Sickness and LARP

Apr 25, 2012 23:15

No posting as of late due to being immensely busy, however I've had to spend all of today huddled up due to sickness, oh the inconvenience! Thought I'd take the opportunity to post about the last two events I went to.

Apologies for any incoherence, this illness is ridiculous.

In short: Eeeeeeh.

In slightly-longer:
Well, starting the final year. Kinda sad, I've invested a lot in the game (and the character), but unfortunately I've ended up with very little to do this year. No plot threads. and very few characters to interactive with, especially meaningfully. At this point, I probably would just start a new character, but at this point in the game it feels a bit redundant.

As for the event itself, I didn't even time in on 2 afternoons and the entirety of Monday (stayed at someone's apartment eating domino's and watching Pixar films, which was pretty awesome). I've seen a lot of complaints about the barricade, but I think the thing there is that we've just gotten so good at protecting ourselves IC that there's just no challenge or conflict. Don't get me wrong, my boredom isn't the games fault, just my lack of creating any lasting plots for myself in 5/6 years.

In short: Eeeeee!

In slightly-longer:
What can I say, the Insurr team put a great game together. The contrast between Strom and Insurr for me was immense. Aside from the noisiness of people after time out and the coldness on Friday night, I don't really have any complaints. I had fun, I got to smear fake blood on my face, what more could I realistically want? :P
The only buzz-kill for me is post event when I see all the posts about how amazing M, H(en), and T are, which means I have to acknowledge how I'm... not. :P I think a lot of the time with characters I'll get to a point with them, and then I won't want to push them any more. Like... I was perfectly happy to have Herenya be mean to everyone until people paradoxically started to like her, and then my OC desire not to piss people off kicked in and I've just tried to keep her as much in limbo as possible (same kinda thing happened with Iris). Beyond that, there is just a general lack of being as awesome, whether it be through kit, characterisation, skills, etc. Heck, people are even so used to my IC skills now that there's just no more credit to be had there, and getting to turn someone down for healing made my day.

Buuut that's all tangential. The event was great, I had a great time, can't wait for the next one. :)

But yes. That's what I did on my holidays when I wasn't constantly working. And now I'm going to go back to being ill and hoping against hope that I'll be better tomorrow. :(
