[fic] silent
Being celebrities and public figures, each of them had learnt, sometimes not in the easy way, to wear a mask. But since the band, and some of their loyal core staff, had known each other so well, it was usually not difficult to read underneath the mask each of them wore.
That, and Kaoru had always been private person to begin with. He was a master of masking his emotion especially in front of public eyes. But for Toshiya, he was not that hard to read. Not only he had been Kaoru’s band mate for over a decade, he had been his lover for almost as long. He prized himself for being the one who knew Kaoru best and all. But still, he was kind of surprised seeing Kaoru looked that upset. His lover usually had done better job of masking his emotion. He wasn’t the only one who noticed it; Toshiya knew that Die was also suspecting it too.
They would have a meeting about the art design of their upcoming album soon so Toshiya had to be quick if he wanted to do something.
“Kaoru, I need to talk to you. Now.”
Kaoru frowned. “But we’ll have a meeting.”
Toshiya flashed his sweetest and most persuasive smile. “5 minutes? I swear it’s quick.”
Kaoru’s frown uncased. “I don’t know, Toshiya.” As he looked around the meeting room, everyone was there and things had been sat up. “Can’t it wait until....”
“Please?”
“Oh come on Kao.” Die butted in as he waved his hand off. “It won’t make any difference if we start it now or 5 minutes later.” Toshiya grinned approvingly at his friend’s help.
Kaoru sighed. “OK. Fine.” He walked out of the meeting room with Toshiya trailing behind.
As soon as they were out of the room and the door closed behind, Toshiya touched Kaoru’s check to get his full attention. “What is it?” He asked softly. “You seem so upset.”
Kaoru was silent as he looked up to his lover. “Nothing.” He finally muttered and looked sideway, breaking their eye contact and Toshiya’s touch on his left check.
“You won’t be upset over nothing.”
Kaoru didn’t say anything.
“Kaoru...” Toshiya gathered Kaoru’s face in both of his palm. When Kaoru still refused to look up, Toshiya tilted his face a bit. Kaoru stubbornly kept his gaze out of Toshiya’s eyes. Toshiya bowed down a bit to rest his forehead on Kaoru’s. Their noses barely were grazing each other.
When their eyes met, Kaoru’s distressed eyes hadn’t relented their persistent. Toshiya kept his gaze steady and calm. His fingers were caressing the strong headed leader’s cheeks. Eventually, some moments later, Kaoru gave up. He closed his eyes and yielded to their physical contact, lost into Toshiya’s comforting gesture. Toshiya gently smiled as his lover was losing his tension in front of his eyes.
Toshiya couldn’t help to regret it when he moved his hand into his lover precious hair and Kaoru snapped his eyes because of that change of touch.
Kaoru pulled away and got back to the meeting room. “Come on. Everyone is waiting.”
Toshiya sighed before he followed the smaller man’s footsteps, hoping that he had done enough.

Hours later, after the meeting was over, the setting sun found Toshiya sat on a high chair by the island of the studio’s kitchen enjoying a cup of coffee. He was massaging his left shoulder absentmindedly while he read through today’s newspaper.
He completely missed the soft steps that were approaching him, as he was immersed in his reading. He was pleasantly surprised when a tender kiss was laid on his back. When he felt a forehead gently pressed on the same spot, he didn’t need to look back to see who it was. Toshiya smiled. Toshiya’s smiled grew larger when his back got another kiss before the pressure was gone.
He had done the right thing and it was his lover’s silent way of saying thank you.

It's not exactly a Valentine's Day fic. It's actually far from that ^ ^; I have have this in my head for quite sometimes but I just manage to finish it now. I don't it's the best of me... but I've been postponing this fic and I just have to get it done and post in on Valentine's Day. I hope it's still enjoyable for you
