It's one of the downsides of democracy: in the end it's a popularity contest -- and nobody dares to suggest banning private motorboats or water scooters (vesiskootteri? :D) or anything along those lines because they're afraid for their seat. xP In Norway they banned private fireworks in New Year, which I thought was a good idea. I felt like taking a swim in a sea of razor blades when I was listening the discussion on the topic on the radio. -.- People called there really pissed off and acted like it would be some bloody human right to blow up stuff in the sky and poke a few eyes out every year! I know! If we had a socialist government this would not be a problem ;D I really wanted California to ban fireworks for 4th of July, but instead all Arnold could do was "encourage" people to not do fireworks, which is like nothing because you have every single tiny town fixing up their own fireworks show every 1km, and people buying and playing with them for days before & after independence day. This, combined with all the forest fires, has made me feel awful T-T The air here really sucks right now ( ... )
