Wait, I know you mentioned this in your last entry as well, but what is this you are all talking about? Something gonna happen to LJ?? o_O; ...

Servers are now in Russia, so word is (According to translations of the Russian info) that we are subject to russian censorship and that our information can be used to their liking and all that. I'm not particularly concerned, as I don't write anything the Russians really need to be paying attention to, but I'm backing everything up to DW because I don't want to lose entries and pictures of Russia does turn LJ off.

Hm. Ok, thanks for explaining.
Heard this for the first time.
Wouldn't they have an announcement in a timely manner before LJ goes down, though?
I really don't want to move to somewhere else to be honest.

I've been around since 2004, there's no way I can back it all up somewhere else?! -____-; ....

DW let's you copy your entire LJ over. That's why everyone is backing up to it now.

I've made an account on there and imported everything over; however, I'm keeping it private for the moment. My username on there is mica-28 because mica28 is unavailable...
I will also only move over if LJ goes down. I don't plan on leaving any time soon.

Cool cool.
Yeah, that seems to be the general opinion. The changes really only affect us if (1)You're a heavy political blogger with thoughts damaging to Russia (2)If they no longer see profit in the foreign portion of LJ. But foreign accounts hold the highest percent of paid accounts so...

I don't care much for politics at all so this doesn't really affect me.

I didn't know LJ was going away, either, but I did notice a ton more Russian journals in recent years. I might not use any other platform.
