Expensive gadgets for little kids?

Do you think an Ipod Nano is an appropriate Christmas gift for a 6 year old? Why or why not please.

My five year old really enjoys listening to things on his player. It's not an iPod, though. I find the iTunes application burdensome and unintuitive. I do like how the little sansa scandisk player works - I didn't need to load any software on my computer and moving songs/stories on and off is just drag and drop. My brother handed it down to me but I don't think it was very pricey.

Sev also LOVES to listen to audio books on my kindle. It's a really cool thing for him to have the physical book in front of him AND have the kindle read the book to him.

if the six year old is exceptionally responsible, maybe. i couldn't give one to avery and expect it to not be lost or broken (most likely by little brother, but still).
