i think the reason they fight for these islands is because there are natural gases close to the island and if the island is theirs that means the waters around it is as well. which means they get the gas xD When America signed the treaty to give back the property to Japan, 釣魚台 wasn't a part of Japan at the time but they told America to 'give it back' as well so they just put it in, since they werent clear if it was originally their land or not. and that's why their agrue about it.....because China and Taiwan says it was always theirs but Japan says the treaty gave it to them. -_-; but i think 釣魚台 does belong to China. xD; i'm a 華人 too soo >__> hahaha

yes, it's because of the natural gas xD that's why Japan want it -_- What makes it more confusing is that Taiwan the island is once under Japanese rule, and so the whole thing of if the islands are part of who is very complicated.

pft US acting like UK signing lands they have no knowledge of to countries and causing all these border disputes. As if they can determine where the boarders should go.
