So, although I took some good pics at Kroger last night that were funny I've had this one set to be the pic of the week since I took it. Link just looks so damn pedophile in that pic. I wonder what those silly japs were thinking.
And by this pic you can also deduce what a lot of my activity has been lately. Super Smash Bros. Melee, right Psycho Mantis? I gotta say, that game never gets old. Nintendo did something right when they said they'd make a game of lots of Nintendo characters, but then made it a more free-for-all brawl than a one on one fighting game with complicated moves. Wii's Super Smash Bros. Brawl had better deliver similar gameplay with the same fun increase that came with the Gamecube version vs. the N64 one.
Speaking of games, this week was a pretty solid week in gaming for me. As some of you know, the projector has finally been fixed. I received the bulb last week, and after installing it I quickly found that my projector was just shot. After annoying correspondence with Dell, they sent me another projector and had me send mine back. I'll get on the phone with one of them soon about the bulb to see if I can return it, or else I'm leaving it here until I next need it.
So, the inauguration of the projector was like 8 solid hours of Prey on Xbox 360. Gotta admit, that was a pretty sweet game. The portals and gravity walks were fun elements to the solid shooter gameplay. There were a few minor issues with it, I'd say. The first and main one was the weapons. All of them were alien based besides the crowbar, and I couldn't really say I liked one really over another (perhaps the only exception is the acid shotgun). One thing that pisses me off in games is when the enemy weapons don't strategically make sense, but whatever. Another complaint was the game was disgusting. There was a lot of "orifice imagery" best displayed by the fact that multiple times throughout the game, someone would say "that looks like an anus!", or "that's just like a vag". Anyway, it was good overall and I'll probably get the sequel but seriously someone needs to explain to the writers that "Amerindians" and spirit powers just aren't that hardcore.
Another note in the gaming world is that Valve, creators of Half Life 2, announced 2 games that will ship with Episode 2 later this year. Team Fortress Classic 2, which is amazing enough since the old one was amazing and the new one is now sporting some sweet "The Incredibles"-esque graphics, and also Portal. I gotta admit, Portal is one of the more exciting games I've seen. The game utilizies a gun that's similar in look to the grav gun, but allows the user to create portals and pass through them or pass objects through them. From the way it's set up, the game is a kind of puzzle game. It's really best demonstrated through the cool little trailer:
Now you're thinking with Portals Oh yah, we went to go see A Scanner Darkly at the Tara Theater this week. I thought it was a pretty sweet movie. Near the end it almost seemed like they could've ended it a few times, but when they finally did, it justified the movie in my mind. Cool ending, Cool effects, Cool story. COOL PAAARTY. Alright yah, it was good.
Ari has made major strides this week in the upgrade to the basement's power. After getting the idea when Windows Vista was trying desperately to connect to my 360, Ari downloaded Windows Xp Media Edition on my old computer. After toying with system for a while and downloading the necessary plugins, SUCCESS! The ultimate goal here was achieved. ANIMU ON THE PROJECTOR. NOW ANIMU IS HUEG. Definitely something that's promising and cool. There are a lot of cool features on Media Center that would be fun for the apartment and make things much easier than plugging PCs into projector. So that's definitely a win on Ari's part.
Watched a few more things this week. Matt, Allen and I finished "Kashimashi", which ended with one of the biggest wtf endings in animu history, but overall I think it was pretty good. I started to catch up a little on Bleach, but I'm not really enjoying the filler too much. Allen brought some Eureka seveN over, so I watched like the first 10 of that and I'm enjoying it a lot. I also began "Tonagura" (see below picture), which just came out this week. It's terribly 'mu, but I'll give it another episode or 2 before I lower it in the priority list. Besides that, just keeping up with Kyou no Go no Ni and reading the next Negi manga.
The main girl looks far too calm for how insane her "Childhood-friend-who-she-secretly-loved-til-this-day SUKI DESU" looks.
So this weekend's plans are for some chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool at Erin's mountain/lake house. Seems like a perfect way to escape this heat ;(
Only 1 and 1/2 weeks til Atlantic Station ;OOOOOOO
