Mmm, Money

So, turns out I had a lot more money in my savings than I thought. Guess that deposit of $50 a paycheck adds up. So, since my savings account was supposed to be for purchases like this, I splurged a little more than I was planning. Yeah, I still went with a pre-built computer in the end, because I just didn't want to deal with the hastle of ( Read more... )

Yes, you are a consumer whore, but that's ok, its not my money. I hope the Alienware works out well for you.

It was kinda funny, for the CCDC thing that I'm going to, the group that I'm working with are mostly a bunch of Linux guys, so when we had to get accustomed to Vista one of 'em was like, "Wow, this actually isn't too bad". It was kinda funny to get that reaction from a hardcore linux guy :P.

Just remember, it plays by its own rules, so expect lots of dialogue boxes. It's a good thing though.

And w00t, Alienware. Sounds like a pretty rockin' comp, and SP1 should be out soonish, though I hear it doesn't help too much, and causes slow down at first, because it re-indexes everything, so you won't have that problem since it's new.

Well, considering that my games/mods are all on a seperate (physical) hardrive, that will hopefully just be plug and play. My other hardrive was partitioned to dual boot XP/2000, so I will probably just salvage my music/anime and then wipe it clean. All my important documents are split between an external hardrive and my laptop anyways, so it'll be nice to clear the thing for once.

I was actually pretty surprised at the pricing. Very comparable to an equivalent Dell or HP, though you are still paying a little for the name (mostly in shipping though).

I don't know why, but I didn't want to go through the hastle of building another computer. It was at least a week of really late nights for my last one, and that was right after my A+ class, and with you there to fix it/give advice. Never worked like it was supposed to though.

Mostly giving advice, I kinda suck with computer hardware, not worth my time for the most part. I'd rather get a slightly more expensive computer, than spend the time to build it myself, especially with how little time I have, and with the price difference being almost negligible.

Everything should hopefully work decently, you might need to reinstall some games, but hopefully not, since the my documents location and stuff will be different. Good luck, hope everything works well.
