Since Katrina's devastation in the Southeast, things have more meaning to me. Food and water seem so much more precious, and I feel blessed that I'm alive and well-off. Fox news estimates that it may take 22 Billion dollars to repair the damages from the hurricane. Experts, however, say that it might be more around 9 Billion. Either way, thats still a lot of money, but the human spirit is not so easily crushed. I'm sure New Orleans and other places that were hit badly by Katrina will recover and become what they were.

Idealy, they would rebuild New Orleans away from the water. At a place where it would actually be above sea level.

I think they should move away from that bathtub they call a lake (or what used to be one). If a lake is contained by levees, don't you think there's something wrong with that picture? But you also have to take into account the history of the city. Bourbon Street, and Mardi Gras. I've only been to New Orleans once, but it's a neat city, and (while being above sea level does sound like a good idea) I'm hoping they can rebuild it to be similar to what it was.
