Alright, I leave for Mexico in about one week. As with most vacations, a lot of the time is spent getting from one place to another. I need to load up my iPod with new music, and my bag with new books

If by "unique" you mean "often questionable," then I have those tastes in spades. :-P
Anyway, three of my current favorite albums:
1) Teargirl,Jane Lui. This is one of those rare albums that I can loop constantly without getting sick of. Great vocals. Sometimes jazzy, sometimes bluesy, always difficult for me to describe in a way that does her music justice.
2) Metaphorical Music, Nujabes - Nujabes contributed to the soundtrack of Samurai Champloo, so if you like the music in that series, I would definitely recommend this. Collaboration with hip-hop artists, cool jazz influence... this combination really works for me, strangely enough.
3) Speak for Yourself, Imogen Heap - I'm always surprised by how much I like this album, because I'm really not a fan of synth-heavy pop. But it's got a nice groove to it.
And three of my favorite books:
1) Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Haruki Murakami - Two parallel storylines: one a cyberpunk-ish info war, one a surreal attempt to read dreams and recover a one's shadow in a

Sounds awesome, I'm really interested in the books you suggested especially. Thanks a bundle! I don't have any spare cash for books actually though, so I'm gonna try and make a stop at the library right before I leave and then hopefully be back before the due date XD heh
