Misperception....

So often people wonder why they don't look like the girls they see in advertising. Many try to tell themselves "it's because they are not real" but I don't they they realize exactly HOW unreal what they see really is. The people you see in ads and on billboards LITERALLY do not exist.

I saw this on break.com. I also saw a show about the history of plastic surgery on the National Geographic channel. It talked about how before the 20th century (and during the Depression), heavier set women were considered more attractive because it denoted they had money. But as Americans became more active, the skinnier woman became the beauty standard, which was then reinforced with the introduction of Barbie. So even if you meet the standard today, you're probably old news tomorrow. Isn't that swell?
