District 9

Jeff and I saw District 9 today. I actually hadn't heard of it until he asked me if I wanted to see it and then made me watch the trailer. It's really not anything like the trailer makes it out to be. It's really, really good. not that the trailer makes it look bad, it just makes it look like a run-of-the-mill sci-fi action movie with aliens. but ( Read more... )

Note that "made her watch the trailer" means "She immediately looked up the trailer and watched it, without me saying a word."

Do you think your cut somehow *deleted* your comment? Because I can't find what you wanted to say about the acting.

This sounds really great. I was intending on seeing it, because it sounded smart and has a good creative pedigree, but I wasn't sure it would really be *interesting* to me. It sounds like it has more heart than I thought.

see, I wrote my end comments and then thought, maybe I should LJ-cut? and so the "also" stayed in and made it confusing :)

it's super interesting and really engaging. and the aliens are frickin cool!

I think the "also" in the cut was supposed to be edited out. Or the LJ cut did do some cutting. =)

I was sort of on the fence about seeing it, because the trailer only had me thinking "huh" and not "must. see. at all costs." Perhaps I will see it after all sometime this week.

It is an awesome movie! It does a really good job of showing what life was like under Apartheid for many of the black South Africans. In a way, I hope they make a sequel, but the movie really doesn't need one.

it's funny because it sort of did set itself up for a sequel. I'm sure they'll make one since it seems to be doing well at the box office. I'd be interested in seeing if they could do a sequel that is in any way set up like the original.

yay money having! the last movie I saw in the theatre was HP :) I seem to end up going in spurts, as we're going to see Inglorious Bastards next weekend and I'm going to subject myself to the Time Traveler's Wife soon (love the book, scared to see how they ruin it).

I know, that's crazy! but seriously, he's really, really good.
