The only scenes with Blaine that I watched were when they were talking about the rules for the invitational, and when he was giving Rachel and Sam piano lessons, but it seemed like this was a Hyde episode for him (as far as his split personality goes) what with him being unsympathetic and overaggressive and smug. He looked like he was being rather whiny too in the Klaine auditorium scene that I FF'ed through.
When Brittany told Kurt that he should start dating last week, I was kind of hoping that it would be Sebastian, or--this episode, after Kurt said he met him online--Eli C. At this point I would have found that sort of absurdity highly amusing since it's not like the writers are taking this seriously anyway. But all I saw of Kurt's Breadstix scene where two brown heads of hair, one of whose was not Sebasatian's, so I wasn't going to give much thought to whoever this one-off character was until I just happened to get a half second glimpse of the guy before it cut to the next Samchel scene, and this was pretty much my face.

Not really commenting on the rest of it, but as far as Blaine went... I thought he wasn't too bad? Like, yeah, he was a bit smug in the beginning scene, but to me it read more as a fake smugness - like he was nervous and overcompensating by being smug because he didn't want Kurt and Rachel (mostly Kurt, I think) to see him sweat

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I went back and watched the auditorium scene, and I was totally wrong about it. It was really a lovely little scene, yes, they played the Klaine theme during it. So, yes, very happy to be wrong, and I shouldn't jump to such quick conclusions next time.
And I'm sure there's various meta that be created for how Blaine acted at the beginning, e.g. that he's overzealous in his position since it was what helped him put his life back together somewhat.
I did think Blaine being a little back-handed to Rachel was weird though since we opened up the season with them promising to each other that they were going to be there for each other.
That was undeniably the funniest episode that I've watched in years.
It wasn't even Sue's Klaine love that cracked me up, but her general rants about glee club and Will. Pretty much speaking for a large portion of the general glee fandom with those rants.
Also, assuming Sue didn't make up that genealogy chart for Blaine and Dave and that it was legit - Blaine's mother is Cynthia Rothschild? That...Explains a few things.

If you're not looking at this ep as cracktastic, it did have some moments.
Sue shipping Kurt and Blaine.
Rachel and Sam singing "A Thousand Miles".
The bear in their apartment.
Sam saying Blaine owes him for shaving his back. Why do I want to see that scene so bad? I guess I miss me some Blam.
