So, the writers are just forgetting, cutting out, losing continuity by not remembering Stanley blackballing Rachel on Broadway, after she left for Hollywood?
Well, TBH, I've thought numerous plot lines on Glee have been, let's say, 'not particularly good' or 'not thought thru' or, I guess, 'just plain awful'. But I'm pretty sure, other than thru the writers' inconsistency and poor plotting, we don't get to change canon. For example, the idea for Blaine to cheat on Kurt, sober, in the middle of a school day with a random he met on Facebook came out of nowhere. Yes, the writers had set up the boys to have trouble with their relationship long-distance, but this was completely out of the blue, inconsistent w' what we knew of Blaine's character to date (IMO) and just plain lazy writing to break up this couple and cause conflict. But, then again, when season 5 began & Klaine had their little chat on the school steps in the midst of a time-space continuum (b'c God knows when it was REALLY since 8 episodes had passed since the Valentine's Day ep but I'm pretty sure we were supposed to think it was around March...) Blaine's so-called explanation mentioned how he thought they were broken up at the
( ... )
I try not to think about it too deeply, because, after all, this is the show that...
In Season 3, Quinn gave Rachel a train ticket to visit her at Yale. In Season 4 ("Thanksgiving"), it suddenly became Rachel gave Quinn the ticket.
And then there was that thing were ND was disqualified from Sectionals on Season 4 (meaning that they should have no chance at winning, regardless), but suddenly, once the Warblers were ALSO disqualified, ND was given the win? Despite there still being one eligible team left? And the writers basically said "yeah we know this makes no sense, but whatever *handwave*"
Welp, that was pretty lackluster. I was expecting to not really enjoy the episode, so at least I didn't get disappointed. Didn't really enjoy the song choices, either. The best one was the one Sam sang to Mercedes, imo. (Dammit why did you have to replace Samcedes with Samchel????)
As much as I would like for Santana to stop being her by her abuela, I'm kind of glad Brittany didn't just magically fix everything? This is more realistic (even if what she said hit WAY too close to home for me). And I did like the bit at the end during "What the World Needs Now," even if the song itself was meh to me. I didn't expect the feels. This seems to be a running theme this season.
Disappointing. I liked the last few week's with the crack. Glee doesn't do serious very well, and while the storyline with Santana and her abuela hit a little to close to home for me (I was disowned for even supporting same-sex marriage, long before I actually told any of my family I was bi), it left me cringing with the way Brittany tried to handle it.
Also, Kurt's little smirk right at the end when Blaine showed up - alone - makes me wonder what's going on with him and Dave after last week.

Ok, so there wasn't much Klaine, but to me this episode was all about the music and I really loved it.
