Rules

ALL:

All fanfic and fanart submitted must feature Kurt as a central character or part of the main pairing. Your submission can be gen/any pairing/multi-pairing/crossover - as long as it has Kurt as a main character. No RPF/RPS.

All fanfic and fanart submitted must be new (never before posted online). This means do NOT post your entry anywhere before or during the posting period. See the relevant question and answer below.

All fanfic and fanart must be rated and marked with warnings appropriately. All ratings are allowed.

You can sign up to be both an artist and an author only if you are certain that you can finish all assignments and you are not allowed to claim your own fanfic in the artist’s claim post.

All fanfic and fanart must be submitted as an attachment and not in the body of the email.

Keep up with the deadlines and complete your work on time!

Read the Scheduled Timeline post thoroughly and completely! Especially read the section explaining the process. (This section has not yet been posted for Round 2. Feel free to review the one used for Round 1, though. Minor changes will be made.)

Authors:

Fanfic must be 15000 (15K) words or longer. (There is no maximum! :D)

Author Check-Ins are mandatory (required).

Authors must have their fanfic beta read.

Fanfic must be marked with appropriate warnings. (Ex. Spoilers: up to 202/S2 Ep2)

Artists:

Artists are only allowed one claim per artist’s claim post.

The new Artist Check-In (by email) is mandatory (required).

Art can be drawn/digital/manipulation/other - any medium as long as it will be postable/viewable to everyone.

Each artist must create at least one piece of art for each fic that they claim, but feel free to create more!

All fanart must be either the same or a lower rating than the fanfic. This means no NC17 fanart for a PG13 fanfic.

FAQ

Can I sign up as a co-writer?
Yes, you can. Each writer must sign up as an author individually, indicate that they are participating as a co-writer, and provide information on themselves and whom they are writing with.

I’m not an author/artist/beta. Can I still participate?
Yes! Be a Cheerio! Respond to the comments in the check-in posts and encourage our authors! Keep them motivated and remind them to stay on track with finishing their Kurt Big Bang entry - because you’re looking forward to it! Also, promote the Kurt Big Bang community and encourage people to sign up. The more people participating - the more awesome stuff created for your reading/viewing pleasure!

Does the story have to be completed prior to posting?
Short answer - yes. Rough drafts must be a minimum of 15,000 (15K) words and the story should be 95% complete. Final drafts must be a minimum of 15,000 words and the story absolutely must be 100% complete. The final draft you submit is the final version of your fic and there will be no more editing once it is submitted. You are NOT allowed to end with a cliffhanger or "to be continued"; the story must act as a standalone. However, you are allowed to write sequels to your fic (with no deadlines unless you enter your sequel for the next round) and post them on your LJ. If you do post a sequel, let me know and I'll link to it from your posted entry here.

Is there a need for us to join to make posts or can we simply watch the community?
Even if you're participating, you can just watch the community if you want. I'll probably handle the posting as I've noticed that, in big bang communities that have the authors post, access to the fic/art will sometimes be lost to friends-locking or deleted journals. I'll figure out a good posting process and let all participants know well ahead of time what it will be. I'm looking into possible archive options.

When can we post our big bang fic/art entries to our own journals?
Participants will also be allowed to post their big bang entries to their own journals approximately two weeks after posting begins (date unknown at this time, will be based on # of entries). This means you are NOT allowed to post your entry to your own journal or other communities before or during the posting period. This is to encourage people to enjoy and appreciate all of the effort put into each of the Kurt Big Bang contributions. This will provide equal access and exposure to these great works for at least that limited period of time before you are allowed to publicly post and promote your fic/art elsewhere. We also want to attract people to this community and encourage participation in future Kurt Big Bang rounds.

Can the story be told from the point of view of another character?
If that character's relationship (platonic or romantic) with Kurt is the primary focus of the story, yes - you can tell the story from another character's point of view.

Can we change the ideas/pairings/genres from what we signed up with?
Yes, you are allowed to change from your initial idea until the first author check-in which is when you are committing to your premise because that information will be used for the artist claim posts.
