MOD POST: Sign-up deadline coming up, policy changes, etc.

Oct 25, 2011 23:11

Hi, everyone! If you've already signed up for the 2011-2012 Kurtofsky Reverse Bang as an artist, welcome and thanks for participating! If you know a capable artist in the Kurtofsky fandom who hasn't signed up yet, feel free to give them a gentle nudge toward the sign-up post! Artist sign-ups officially close at midnight EST (that's about an hour from now). But remember, if you or one of your friends missed the deadline, we'll still let people in until November 1st if they provide a creative excuse.

Now, on to the changes in policy. These changes will soon be reflected in the FAQ and guidelines, as needed.

Adult Content: First, the majority of those of you who participated in our rating policy poll agreed with the new policy. This means that we will now be asking all those participants in the Kurtofsky Reverse Bang who are under age 18 to restrict the rating of their contributions accordingly. This policy does not reflect the mods' personal views about explicit material and underage viewers -- instead, it reflects the parts of LiveJournal's Terms of Service that are designed to keep adult content away from users who are not of legal age.

LJ Users: Tess and I have agreed that, aside from the master post that will be put up at the end of the Kurtofsky Reverse Bang, all participant content should be posted by the participants, themselves. That'll give you a little more control over your creative works, and hopefully make posting run smoothly once we get there. However, what this means is that all Kurtofsky Reverse Bang artists are going to need a LiveJournal account to post their final works to the community with.

We won't require that you post your works to your individual LiveJournal -- if you'd prefer to share your art on Tumblr, deviantART, y!Gallery, etc. and then link them in your post here, that's absolutely fine. But in order to post to the community, you'll need to set up a LiveJournal account sometime between now and the deadline in January. For most of you, this policy is a non-issue because you've already got an LJ account. For those of you who have yet to sign up, if you need help signing up or learning the ropes of the site, contact us via the contact-a-mod post and one of us will help you out.
