Building codes.

Would building codes be on record in the city or county halls of records?

There's a fixer-upper I'm looking at, but I suspect quite a bit of it is in need of repair or rehab or complete tear-apart-and-put-back-together-properly.

Depends on your municipal structure. If you have cities within a county (as opposed to independent incorporated cities existing outside of county boundaries), it's probably at the county level. In any event, if you can't find this info on line, call the court clerk's office (city or county), and tell them what you're looking for. They're usually quite helpful.

In my experience, there was a specific office for building records at the same place you'd apply for building permits.
