So, up on my feet I coasted downhill to the shops to do various chores.  I'm a little glad that the ride home is uphill, because it means I must curb at some point my booklust.  As it was, the damage from the op shop today was quite severe.

It amuses me, that Harper seems to think books are like DVD box sets; the special extra features seem odd inclusions.  I sometimes read them and then wonder why on earth they are there.  More often, I feel a deep regret in my heart that some very lovely covers are intruded upon by annoying circles.  If I want my book to look like it's covered in ( Read more... )

My little netbook gave up the ghost last week, while the sudden storms made the gutters overflow and our router decided to take some time off.  So I've dealt with several small emergencies of a domestic nature, culminating in putting bits of my old desktop back in and doing a clean install on it.

While Yuko was in town, a parcel arrived from Osaka, from Shizuka.  News years wishes, wrapped in a Mister Donut bag that showed a happy Christmas scene:  snowmen, snow, icy blue sky... and a happy lion.

When I first saw the tall, brown and greenish old hotels and apartments and small big houses wedged in-between the glass beach hotel mega-complexes, it struck me as something that John Murdoch and Paris Hilton might make, if they were left to play rock-paper-scissors with the planning approval department.
