New Job Update

My new job is awesome. I'm part of test team of two. The other guy is cool and there's plenty of work. My second day we sat down and hacked me off a piece to own. I've been backfilling unit tests like a mad woman, learning a new language, looking for code that 'smells', and doing a bit of IT here and there to help out ( Read more... )

Just out of curiosity, do you know if there are any plans to branch into the secondary level? I browsed through the curriculum and instructional designer job description which makes it appear as though you only work with elementary level students (or I suppose, you're only hiring for elementary level "experts"). It looks like a good company with a good mission (and one right up your alley).

Right now we're focusing on Math for K-3. I'm not sure where we'll go after we launch that. Right now my job is to focus on getting our first product out the door and to let the founder and CEO worry about the future. :-)

Looks interesting. I fear my current employer is at the size of doing stupid things. I'll have to send in a resume.

It would be awesome to work with you. Let me know if I can answer any questions (not sure I'll be able to with only 1 week under my belt).

Speakeasy has been very supportive and flexible of my medical problems as of late, and I would hate to leave them for that, but I cannot see their current business plan not exploding out from under them.
They have also been suffering serious growing pains with major management problems.
I really hate seeing devs unable to get anything done and wasting so much time instead of developing.

Oh man. That sounds like it could be a lot of fun. There should be more companies that can be laid back when they want to be. I don't think that I'd fit the available positions, though (no web experience, hardly any time in the workforce, a little lingering resentment toward machine learning...) and sadly, a move to Seattle is not in the cards for a couple years yet. I'm starting to get wistful for a major life change, though....

I'm so glad to hear your new job is so awesome. Maybe one day when I am looking for a real job I'll be as fortunate.
