Chapter 2:
“I’m Fujiwara Taisuke. I’m here to escort you to our department.”
“I’m Tamamori Yuta.”
“Have you got all the things you need?”
“Yes, thank you for asking.”
“Then, we should get going now.”
Tamamori nodded and got into the car.
The place is an hour drive from the place where Tamamori lives. It has a very tight security system and everyone who wants to enter the place has to get down from the car to allow the guards to conduct a body check.
“All this is necessary as we keep some of the most dangerous prisoners that need medical attention here. This place also has the most up-to-date medical lab for research purposes.” Fujiwara explained as they enter the main building. They had to walk pass a metal scanner right after the entrance.
I wonder how life is going to be like living here for a few months. Tamamori thought.
They walked pass a lot of rooms until they reached a door with a metal plate that indicates the chief’s room.
Fujiwara knocked twice on the door and gestured for Tamamori to enter first. Behind a desk sat a middle-aged man with a pair of tired-looking eyes.
“You must be the genius doctor, Dr. Tamamori Yuta. Please, have a seat.” The man said.
Tamamori gave a smile and sat down. Fujiwara sat next to him.
“Pardon my manners; I’m Tanaka Shunsuke, Chief of Criminal Affairs. We handle high profile cases. My men are the ones that prevented the assassination of the Prime Minister.” The man said proudly. “Here’s the profile of the patient you’ll be in-charged of. Fujiwara, pass him the file.” He said.
“Yes.” Fujiwara obeyed him.
“Thank you.” Tamamori said and opened the file.
“Mitsuhara Yukari. 20 years old. Caught one month ago at on one of the high rise buildings in Shibuya. Suspected to be the one involved in the murder of the Finance Minister in 2009, mafia leader of another group...Eh, she did all this?” Tamamori was shocked by looking at the long list of crimes she did.
“Yes, I’m afraid so. Other than the mafia organization, we believed she was hired by someone to murder the Prime Minister. We are trying to dig out information through her.” Fujiwara explained.
“Unfortunately, she collapsed in the middle of questioning. Our doctors suspected that she may be diagnosed with brain tumour. They’ve conducted several test and we’re now waiting for results.” Chief Tanaka said. “All our doctors here are busy and they are more of a research doctor.” Chief Tanaka added after he saw Tamamori’s confused face.
“But I’m not really qualified to treat her.”
“We are not asking you to cure her. We just want you to keep her alive as long as possible until we finish our investigation.” Chief Tanaka said without remorse.
“It’s my duty as a doctor to…”
”She’s not worth being called a patient. She’s better off dead seeing the things she did. Fujiwara, show Tamamori sensei his room.” Chief Tanaka said as he interrupted Tamamori.
“You should just listen to Chief, Dr.Tamamori. It’s for you own good.” Fujiwara said as he walked Tamamori to his room. He just kept quiet.
“Here’s your room. A guard will be stationed outside your room 24/7. Your patient’s room is located at the end of the hallway.” Fujiwara said and pointed to a metal door where two guards stood outside it.
“…and here is your ID. Wear it all the time. Good day.”
Tamamori was left standing outside his room alone. He took one look at the door at the end of the hallway and then entered his room.
