That will be most excellent! :D To be honest, I don't think his sponsorships will give a shit, as most people would just take what he said as a joke and say that all of us are overreacting. Already the few comments I read on ONTD are really faily. It makes me both sad and angry. :(

I kept changing my mind about him, I had reached a happy medium where I was aware of his douchiness, but his few endearing characteristics and the fact that he brought in the lulz made me want to read a lot of fic about him. Now, I will need to work so much harder on separating the real Evan from the fanon one. I don't know if I can do it. :((((((((((

This is what i find so hard about RPS, because it's real persons, they're not fictional and what you see really is what you get, it really is who they are. You can't truly add your own interpretation of their person to the character you're writing, not if you want it to actually be about them.

i mean, if you change them too drastically from the actual person, you might as well be writing original fic :/

But I think that is true with fictional characters as well, if you want to write in character. But I know what you mean, it is definitely different with RPF, like I can read about fictional Draco Malfoy calling Hermione a mudblood and still love reading a million fics about him, but real Evan Lysacek making transphobic 'jokes' makes me want to punch him in the face. I guess reforming Draco is one thing, I can't explain why it's different with real people, but IT IS. I mean it's fic, none of that is real, and yet.

I don't think fandom is dead! Slowing down, definitely, but I think there are always slow points in any RPF fandom, where the season isn't on or the bands aren't making music, or whatever.

That being said - Evan, goddamnit.

I hope you are right! I mean, just the other day I was feeling all happy because two of my favourite kinkmeme WIPs that I thought abandoned got updated. But now I just don't know. And I am not ready to let go yet dammit, I like the skating fandom! We have such awesome canon and so many awesome skaters. And then Evan does something like this and I don't think he deserves Johnny, even in fic! And they had sort of become my OTP. (Because this is all ABOUT ME, OBVIOUSLY.) I don't even want to use my Evan icons, of which I have acquired a ton! /o\

When I started talking about skating I apologized for talking about Evan and people who didn't know anything but DWTS were like, "What? He's hilarious and sweet!" and I was all "....um.... well, right now." So color me unsurprised and unimpressed and hopeful that an ass-kicking lies in his future.

Yeah, I am not that surprised, because I know he has said and done a lot of awful things over the years, even though they tend to be more subtle, but this was completely unprovoked and unnecessary and he probably thought he was being clever. :( I really hope he suffers some sort of fall out over this, even though just a quick glance at ONTD makes me think that's unlikely.

Evan has made a lot of subtle digs at Johnny over the years, but this really takes the cake. Especially in the context of those fucking Vancouver reporters. I don't want Johnny to have to deal with it all over again. :(((

I am interested to see what will happen as well, and I hope something does, but when you move beyond our outraged little fandom bubble, most people dismiss it as a joke, or him being sarcastic and say Johnny's said worse about Evan in the past. So, I have began doubting there will be any real fallout for Evan. Their relationship has reached a point where they can say anything and nobody gives a shit any more.
