MERLIN!!
This season of Merlin has ranged from mediocre to terrible, (Gwaine aside, I looove him!) which is why I haven't said anything about it, but the last two episodes. OH MY GOD. It's like, up till now all development was slower than snail pace and suddenly everything came together all at once and it was so amazing. :DDDD
Finally, we got a game changer. I was so afraid Morgana would claim she was bewitched by Morgause and get away with it, so so relieved that didn't happen. And no one questioning what the hell happened was annoying, but I don't care, because this two part finale pretty much redeemed Merlin for me. Next season has the potential for greatness. I can't see how Uther can be king, his spirit is completely broken.
By this point I've made my peace (read: gotten a little used to) the way they've destroyed Morgana and could appreciate her evilness for what it was. In previous episodes her behaviour was enough to ruin the whole viewing experience for me, but she was finally allowed full reign of her evilness and it was pretty glorious!
Things of awesome, in no order:
-I had no idea Lancelot was coming back! I actually screamed when he turned up! It is so amazing having someone there that knows about Merlin, so satisfying to have him be able to talk about magic and fight with him! I love Lancelot. (as does Gwen)
-The dragon who is not a horse but is on Merlin's side!
-Freya!! And the sword appearing out of the water and then the rock in the end! It is so satisfying seeing it all finally happen.
-The round table and all of them sitting there. Merlin on Arthur's right. Gwen on his left. Such as powerful moment, there were nearly tears.
- Gaius' moment of awesome, I was so afraid he'd die.
-Gwen actually doing things! I really wished they didn't discover her betrayal that quickly, but it was still great seeing her sneak around and FORGE keys and be generally fantastic. Oh and the way she is hesitant to kiss Arthur in front of a few knights and then kissing him right at the end in front of everyone. So lovely.
-The parallels between the desolate Uther who has given up completely and Arthur who would have given up as well if he didn't have Merlin there to talk sense into him, Second time he's called him wise. :)))))
-All the awesome knights coming together, each of them someone we genuinely care for.
-The image of Queen Morgana with both Gwen and Morgause beside her throne. It made me seriously consider the possibility of evil Gwen and great threesome times.
-Merlin was pretty much magnificent throughout.
-Arthur's equality speech and how when he asks who is with him, everyone but Merlin has the choice, because Merlin is always with him.
-Basically every Arthur and Merlin moment ever. I think I need to watch this episode again, but there were so many and they all show so much development in their relationship, it was beautiful.
-Not directly related but I can't be the only one that ships Merlin/every single knight ever?
In conclusion: is it next year yet? Just like Merlin to finish just as it's got good again.
