This is a fabulous insight into how he came to be adopted, the Guinness record crawl, why we saw him eating cereal alone in his apartment. This is his backstory, IMHO.

The combination of desperation and hopefulness is heartbreaking, in a good way - it's very much Kutner's character, without dissolving into artificial cheer or sentimentality. And the notion of where his geekiness came from is a lovely one.
