“You…!! You brat!!!! How could you hung up on me??????”
Jaejoong was on rage. He ran to Seunghyun and stop abruptly in front of him. The now blue-haired man who just got out of his car didn’t even had a chance to take a step when Jaejoong pinched his biceps hard.
“Ooooow! Hyung!” he yelled at the sudden pain. It’s sure going to leave a bruise. “What’d you do that for? It hurts, aw..”
Jaejoong really didn’t put any attention at Seunghyun who’s rubbing the place where Jae just pinched him. “One! You were 2 hours late! Two! You hung up on me! And three! Three.. you just.. Seunghyun!!!” Jaejoong’s yelling got louder when he realized Seunghyun was busy rubbing and blowing the red mark he made on his dongsaeng’s arm and not listening to him talking, “Seunghyun, you’re not listening to me!!!”
Jae again pinched Seunghyun. The other arm now. And again, Seunghyun cried loud. “Jae! Ouch! Besides, I promised to sing the song at your wedding! Not your engagement party!”
“Seunghyun! You’re so….!!! Ugh!!” he can’t finish his words. He was almost crying, and it finally drew Seunghyun’s attention. Seunghyun took Jejoong’s arm and held it in his own, rubbing it softly. He notice the small beautiful golden band there, and he smiled seeing it. Jaejoong and Yoochun finally was engaged.
“Jae Hyung?” Seunghyun called him. Jaejoong never forced him to call him using honorific references, and when they dated, it was just awkward for Seunghyun to call his boyfriend with 'Hyung'. But now he wanted to change it. He has to respect Jaejoong as his older friend now, and calling him Hyung was a part of it. Jaejoong didn't answer him at first, but after a pregnant pause, the older man sighed.
“I.. I was so worried, Hyun,” Jaejoong’s voice was shaking. He was on the verge of tears but trying to hold back because he knew he was overreacting. Jaejoong knew Seunghyun never liked it when he overreacted. Not that Seunghyun hates it, he just couldn’t deal with it. He didn’t know how to calm Jaejoong when he was like this, and it usually made Seunghyun nervous. But Jae was not able to hold it this time. “It’s not about the song, it’s not about the guests, I don’t.. I don’t really care about that,” Jaejoong looked down at the floor and Seunghyun could feel a warm tear dropped to his hand, the one holding Jaejoong’s hand. “I was worried about you. I know how careless you drive and you almost never drove so far without me or Hyunjoong or Yoochun to accompany you. What if somebody robbed you? What if you had an accident again? What if, oh, you don’t know how many ‘what if’ I’ve thought about, Hyun. You have no idea. Remember the last time you drove alone? Remember the accident? I can’t.. You can’t do this.. I..”
Jaejoong couldn’t continue as he started crying. Seunghyun who was starting to panic pulled Jae to his embrace, and slowly rubbed the older man’s back. It was not strange for him to worry at Seunghyun everytime he drive. Seunghyun has been in a car accident before. It was the first time Seunghyun drove out of town for business without one of his buddies accompanying him. He was hurt pretty bad, unconscious for almost a month with a broken nose and arm. The image of Seunghyun laying in the ICU, with no guarantee if he will wake up, it haunted Jaejoong for years, even until now.
“Hey, Jae.. Don’t cry, please don’t cry. I’m fine, see?” Seunghyun whispered to Jaejoong’s ear, trying to calm him down before someone comes out and see Jaejoong like this. He pulled back a little and put his finger beneath Jaejoong’s chin and carefully forced Jae to look at him. “See? I’m okay. I’m here.”
Jaejoong didn’t answered and just looked at Seunghyun. He raised his arms that was on his sides before and touched Seunghyun’s face, making sure the slightly taller man was really okay. Jaejoong nodded when he was sure Seunghyun was okay, “I’m sorry for overreacting. It’s just.. I’m just scared.”
Seunghyun smiled and cupped Jaejoong’s cheek. He wiped the tears from the beautiful’s man eyes, and smiled at him. “This is your engagement party, you can’t look like you just lost your puppy,” Seunghyun tried to joke, but he knew he failed when Jaejoong only looked at him with his big doe eyes, not even smiling. Seunghyun sighed and decided to speak honestly, “I’m sorry for not picking your calls. I was driving. And you know how I get lost easily. If I didn’t concentrate on the road...”
Jaejoong chuckled now hearing Seunghyun’s word. He wiped his tears on his face, a little embarrased that he cried like that in front of Seunghyun. Again. Yes, he knows very well this big guy get lost easily. That’s why he had to drive with at least one person who knows the road well, since he never turned on his GPS. “I know. That’s okay, Seunghy-OH MY GOD!! What did you do to your hair, Seunghyun-ah??”
Jaejoong fisted Seunghyun’s hair, making him winced in pain. The older man could not believe what he saw. He could not believe he missed seeing it. Was he that worried of Seunghyun, he didn’t even realize his friend’s hair was now..
“BLUE???” Jaejoong almost yelled, ignoring Seunghyun’s cry of pain when a few strands of hair was teared off from his head as Jaejoong pulled back his hand. “What were you thinking, Hyun?? I know you are eccentric, but.. blue??”
Seunghyun rubbed his painful head where Jaejoong grabbed him, “What’s wrong with blue?” he asked the other boy in a whining tone. He knew he was the least fashionable between them four, but liked his hair. It was quite a change because before this blue hair, he always had his hair in a normal color like black or brunette. He was still whining while Jaejoong was still protesting about the color choice of his younger friend’s hair, when Yoochun and Hyunjoong came out.
“Hyung!!” Seunghyun was glad his other friends came out at the right time. He went to hug the guys and left Jaejoong who was still talking, it made Jaejoong raised his eyebrows and turned around at the three others with his hand on his hip.
“Yah, Choi Seunghyun!”
Seunghyun just looked at him and winked, and went back to hug Hyunjoong briefly. As the heir of one of the most successful businessman, Seunghyun was so busy lately going around South Korea and Japan to control his father’s office branch that he didn’t had much time to hangout with these guys. He missed them dearly.
“Stop it, Jae,” Yoochun chuckled when he saw Seunghyun moved behind him to avoid Jaejoong’s angry glare. “He just arrived. I was wondering what took you guys so long out here,” he turned his head to the blue haired man.
“He was scolding me because I changed my hairstyle.”
“Hair color, you mean!!!” it did not effect Jaejoong even though Seunghyun pouted as cute as he can be. Jae still did not believe it was blue. “Gosh, you’re a CEO of some big company Seunghyun! How could you.. with that hair.. Hyunjoong’s the one who should-“
“Yah! Why always me??” Hyunjoong playfully slapped the eldest arm and made Yoochun laugh. He put his arms around Seunghyun’s shoulder and the both of them watched the other two member arguing at each other. They missed this. It’s been a long time since they were together like this.
A couple minutes later, the four of them are already inside the big house. Jaejoong bought this house for his family about three years ago, and Jaejoong himself lived in a luxurious apartment he shared with Yoochun in the heart of Seoul, near Yoochun’s company building and Jaejoong’s biggest restaurant. Even though Jaejoong didn’t want a big party for his wedding with Yoochun, his family insisted their only son to celebrate his wedding. Seunghyun was standing near the balcony door with Hyunjoong while Jaejoong and Yoochun was busy greeting the guests. Seunghyun played with the glass of wine he held, and leaned his back to the door frame behind him.
“You okay?” Hyunjoong realize Seunghyun was looking intently at the couple. He knew Seunghyun and Jaejoong’s history, and he knew how deep Seunghyun’s feelings was towards the older male. Jaejoong was the first man that made the clumsy silly guy Hyunjoong knew never spent a day without any girlfriend at college, if not in love, then at least the closest from being in love. Jaejoong was the first guy Seunghyun ever admitted he liked, and the first and only guy he ever seriously dated. They broke up in good terms, but even so, even it was Seunghyun who initiate their break-up, the idol knew it’s not that easy seeing your ex is going to marry, even if it’s your best friend he’s marrying.
“Huh?”
Seunghyun blinked a couple of times. He actually heard what Hyunjoong was saying, but his mouth often reacted faster than his brain. He finished the red wine he was holding, thinking if he should ask for another glass.
“I asked, are you okay? With the whole.. wedding thing?”
“I don’t love him like that anymore, Hyung,” Seunghyun answered him straightly. He knew what Hyunjoong was going to talk about, and he didn’t like it. How many times does he have to ensure Hyunjoong that he’s already over it? Already over Jaejoong. “And he’s marrying Yoochun Hyung. I don’t understand why I should be not okay.”
Hyunjoong did not answer this. His younger friend was right. Hyunjoong could see in his eyes that he still love Jaejoong, but in a different way. What makes Hyunjoong unsure about whether Seunghyun is already over Jaejoong or not is, since he broke up with Jaejoong, Seunghyun never settled with just one man. The youngest of their group had insisted that he was just trying to find the right person, but.. 3 guys a month? How would you know when love would come? Hyunjoong needed a whole year to convince himself that what he felt for his girlfriend now, Hyori, was love, not just admiration or lust. So how can Seunghyun know who is his Mr. Right if his relationship usually ends before a week?
“Now that person.. there’s no way he would be okay,” Seunghyun suddenly said, pulling Hyunjoong out of his thoughts. He didn’t even had the chance to ask Seunghyun to repeat his words because the blue haired guy has made his way to someone who just fell down and now was sitting on his butt in the middle of the crowd.
Seunghyun was the first to reach him because even though a lot of people was around this small person, Seunghyun was the first to realise he just fell down. “Are you okay?” Seunghyun offered him a hand.
And when the other person looked up hearing his question, Seunghyun only heard one word in his head.
Love.
