Notice about disbanding of Pierrot
This is a rather sudden notice, but Pierrot will disband.
We could not come to a concensus between members who wished to put their solo activities in the first place and those who would place emphasis on PIERROT no matter what.
I myself feel that it is really unsatisfying to end like this, and thinking of all those who love PIERROT, we tried to talk it out many times.
I refused to give up, and I tried to persuade them right till the end.
We became rather heated up about it at times, tears were shed, and we did everything we could to continue PIERROT.
But even then, AIJI and JUN's passion for PIERROT could not be rekindled.
I think it's all because of my powerlessness as the leader.
KOHTA and TAKEO really wore themselves out, both in body and in soul, trying to protect PIERROT. But I decided that I could not let them go through any more pain than that.
I myself thought about stopping my solo activities to put PIERROT at top priority, but even then they could not be persuaded.
I really have no words to apologise for this, coming to such an end even after making all you fans worry.
I simply could not accept the suggestion "how about changing the members?"
KOTHA, TAKEO and I all agreed that, it is because of the 5 of us, that there is PIERROT.
I am really sorry and regretful that we couldn't even put together a last live, but really, their hearts are so far away from PIERROT that that would be impossible right now.
Honestly, I am very unsure about what is going to happen from now on.
But in the end, I guess I just cannot stop.
I think there's no choice apart from KOHTA, TAKEO and I helping each other as we move forward. I hope to get back to producing music in a new format of presentation as soon as possible.
Even for AIJI and JUN, I think they're really determined on their solo careers after quiting PIERROT. Please support the two of them as well.
I don't think these words could sufficie for an ending, but even then, please let me say them.
Thank you all for loving PIERROT.
PIERROT kirito
now, an excerpt from kiritos' word BBS (members only). the whole thing's quite long.
...
Aiji and Jun actually expressed their intentions to have solo activities from a few years ago. But due to Pierrot's activities, we had them endure it for a while more and we finally decided that we'll all go off to do our own activities from 2005, and then give Pierrot a grand revival in 2006.
Honestly, i had my doubts about Aiji and Jun's so-called "solo activities", but i decided not to interfere into those.
i don't think you guys would really understand if i placed it that way, but i started my own company in 2005, and tried to show them with my actions how much determination working "solo" needs.
Kohta reached his goal by playing support bass outside. TAKEO formed a new unit "G-BRAIN" and thus achieved his.
But all that was to fulfil the promise we made as Pierrot, we did it for Pierrot. My solo activities were like that too. For Pierrot's survival, I had the mental preparation to stop solo activities anytime.
...
At the end of last year, we talked about Pierrot's plans for the future.
Kohta, Takeo and I were ready to put our souls back into Pierrot, but Aiji and Jun said that even if it's already 2006, they cannot return themselves to Pierrot until they've had some solo achievements.
...
Kohta and Takeo, especially, even shed tears for Aiji and Jun to stay for Pierrot, but apparently it had no effect. Seeing that, the only thing i could think of was to bow my head and beg them to continue with Pierrot. So we survived last year.
I said in the tour finale that "Pierrot will definitely not stop!" but it seems that Aiji had other intentions. He also expressed his opinions in the fan club newsletter interview.
2 days ago was our last talk.
Right till the end, Kohta, Takeo and I begged them if they could somehow manage their solo ambitions and Pierrot together.
I asked Aiji "Please, think of the faces of the fans at that outdoor live. Think about the 1000+ fans that gathered for us in the rain. Everyone gets upset sometimes. But we have to be responsible for all those people. Can you please continue with Pierrot, even if it's just based on a sense of duty?" but Aiji gave the reply "i don't have that sense of duty." that busted all hope.
Kohta got up and yelled "Don't you have a responsibility towards the fans!" and left the room.
In reply, Aiji simply said "I'm not doing music for fans' sakes. I'd like to think of my own feelings right now."
(for those who understand, the original-- 「ファンのために音楽をやっているわけじゃない。自分の今の気持ちだけを大切にしたい」)
I felt that was simpy the limit.
For this disbanding business, many of the staff worked hard to keep us alive. Thinking about that, I feel really apologetic. And more than anything, I don't even have words for the fans that supported us.
But even then, I have to think about what can be done now.
I will not stop.
...
We are going to overcome the odds.
Even if it's impossible right away, we'd still like you to wait for our music in a new way of presentation.
