Commander Dante and the Sanguinary Guard

Commander Dante

Dante's pretty much finished. I missed a few major mould lines and neglected to drill his weapon but I'm pretty happy with how he is so far. I need to do a little more shading to some of his armour but he's almost complete. I might also repaint his weapon in the same style of the Glaive Encarmines from the Sanguinary Guard.

Sanguinary Guard

I opted to try to paint "proper" power weapons for the first time last night and I'm fairly happy with the results. Ordinarily I used to use Boltgun Metal on the blades of power weapons and then highlight with some Mithril Silver but I opted to try some freehand work with varying mixes of Hawk Turquoise. I made a few mistakes and made the blade look too light and some of the strokes are way too thick but hopefully they'll improve in time. I have to say that they do look a lot better in person than in extreme close up.

Sanguinary Guard

Same model as above but from a different angle.

Sanguinary Guard

I deliberately went for a more battleworn look than a lot of the Sanguinary Guard examples I've seen in other places. I realise it's personal preference but I figure that these guys are taking on the most dangerous enemies, moving from one encounter to another fighting the toughest battles imaginable with assault and close combat weapons. To me it makes sense that they might get a little grubby along the way. Or maybe I'm just a shitty painter, who knows? ;)

Sanguinary Guard

Same model from a different angle. The Sanguinary's all still need highlighting on the gold armour. At the moment they're primed with Chaos Black spray, based lightly in Tin Bitz and then overbrushed with Burnished Gold, then washed with a little Devlan Mud. Some highlighting ought to make them look more defined.
