The very awful book

Jan 19, 2010 21:21

So last night Zoe and I took out a few of the books we got for a steal at Pottery Barn Kids. (The local store went out of business, so they were selling A LOT for A LITTLE. Books were especially cheap. We got a ton of 'em.)

After glancing at a few, Zoe picked the one with the cover of a cute doggy, called "Hachiko, The True Story of a Loyal Dog". ( Read more... )

OMG, that book is...is...I'm out of words! A children's book?! With that story?! It's...well, awful. Just like you said. But seriously, that's terrible.

Your daughter is adorable--hiding it, then wanting to give it away. And John will always crack me up.

Thanks for sharing, I liked having something to smile about today!

Good for Zoe. Sorry about the sad book, though. Yikes!

Hachiko is a true story -- very famous in Japan. There was a movie made about it too. And isn't it happy that all the people took care of him?

By the way, we all think Puff the Magic Dragon is very sad. Poor Henry asks EVERY TIME we read it, "but Puff got a new friend, didn't he?" The song doesn't have the happy ending that the picture book does, so it's traumatic for him to listen to the song alone without seeing the new friend in the book.

um yes it is nice they all took care of him. But then to be like "Oh and then he died too!" Dear god.

I agree that the Puff the MAgic Dragon song is sad. Just like I think the Giving Tree is one of the saddest books I have ever read. But both of my kids love the Puff song and the Giving tree book, so I figured they could deal better than I could.
