Electronic Dissipation

The Stash will be missed. Although never gone in spirit, it has begun to dwindle in body. Today I started dumping The Stash a little at a time into a brand new savings account at ESL. It was getting a little too big to leave sitting around in a Wegmans bag in my bedroom. It opted for a new account so that it's easier to keep track of and harder ( Read more... )

My personal opinion, let the bank do their job and take it all in at once. Their going to be making money off your money anyway.

You'd have to roll the change though... or use one of those machines in Wegmans but it costs like 5% or something for it to do it.

Have you considered putting a portion of your money into short term (or long-term depending on when you thing you'll be needing it) CDs? You'll make a bunch more interest than a saving account and it kind of forces you not to touch the money for a span of time.

It's not the bank I'm worried about annoying by bringing it all in at once. It would annoy me to have to stand there while they counted it all (multiple times, I'm sure) and I think if I were standing in line and someone brought in over a thousand dollars in single dollar bills and change to deposit it, I'd be annoyed too.

The change is and has been rolled for some time. It doesn't go into The Stash otherwise, so that's not a problem.

I haven't really considered doing anything else with it. Until recently it was just going to stay in that bag in my room. But that was seeming increasingly risky as time went on and it built up. I'd be open to suggestions, although not really that interested in researching them myself...for now anyway.
