Here's a list of differences between the DVD screener and the TV premiere (the iTunes version) of Elementary 1.01 pilot. I opened up one version in one window and the other version in another window and watched them side-by-side. Do you know if they ever sorted out their illegal music use problem?

Yeah, they licensed the music, so everybody's happy.

I know the screener had a lot of Zoe Keating's cello music, which at the time was un-paid-for. Zoe's said that CBS did license her music after everyone made a fuss, but I didn't notice if they were still using as much of it once they had to pay. I hope so... it was over a lot of the deep, dramatic, thinky bits, so I was kind of hoping those would become regular soundtrack for the show whenever the dramatic thinky bits happen.

I think I'll stick with the screener version, then...
Damn, I'm already in love with that show. I must be a sucker for Sherlock in all its versions. I'll admit, at first, I cringed at the idea of making Watson a woman.
I mean... it's the 21th Century, there's no need for that to bring romance, right? BBC's Sherlock and the most recent Sherlock Holmes movies have shown you can play with it very well.
But... in the end... Holmes (or should I say Doyle's?) world is pretty deprived of women. Because of the era, because, also, because he was into guys himself... (hence... Holmes and Watson...) The first episode gave me a few scenes that won me over. Yes, it doesn't look like it'll be pointless to swap the gender for Watson. Joan brings a softness, another kind of intuition and sensibility. So far it's interesting.
Well... I'll shut up now before my comment gets longer than your post! ^^
