Of comics and pudding

Hey! You know what are awesome? French comics. I haven't actually spoken French in years, but I'd like to keep it up, so rather than, you know, go outside and speak with all my Francophone neighbours, I think I'll read comics in French instead! Except when I can only find them in English. Then I'll read them in English.

Yeah I actually have it in English too - since it was half the price and twice the comic! The fourth volume came out in Europe last year, so maybe now that there are two more volumes NBM will translate them...? I hope!

And one of my life goals is to go to France and eat my body weight in French pastries every day ;)

Oh man, I want to check out that Belladone one! The Professor's daughter is one of my favorite books! Have you read any other Joan Sfar stuff? Vampire loves and the Rabbi's Cat are AMAZING. Also, there is a book called Gus and his Gang that I recently read and ADORED, I don't know the French title, First Second puts out the English version. MAN, French people! I don't get how they can write the way they do.

That's actually the only thing by Sfar I've read, and I am disappointed in myself daily that this is the case. I keep hearing about his other stuff so I definitely have to read it!
Gus is also on the list, since I love Blain's other stuff. So good!

Oh wow I love that 'Miss Pas Touche' comic! And I'm amazed that after four years of college French I can actually understand pretty much everything up there (though speaking French is another thing entirely).
And with the Euro almost one-to-one with the dollar now, maybe I can actually spring for the first couple volumes...

Yeah you should totally be able to read through it all with no problem! I'm the same about speaking it though, it's been six years since I spoke it (badly) so it's difficult when people address me in French these days.
