he's the prettiest thing we got the same disorder

Today is 55-gallon drums of suck. And it's Birthday Thursday, and don't think I'll even get to go.

So my mom just calls me and says "I have to ask you something, and don't get mad, it's just an idea." She proceeds to tell me that her new assistant has a hot, loaded (her emphasis, not mine) 26-year-old brother with whom they'd like to set me up ( Read more... )

yeah, i can totally see how you (or me/I? for that matter) would get pissed about the suggestion that you need/should havea bf.

but on the other hand, since my parents have never EVER suggested such a thing and seemed extremely indifferent to the fact that i had no bf until like second year university, i ended up getting my mom to make inquires on my behalf a couple of times re sons of her friends etc. and if those inquiries had resulted in a date-like situation i woudl have been more than happy. but that is probly because i woudl have instigated and controlled the process, albeit thru my mother. so nevermind.

maybe jsut think of it as HIS mother thinking that HE needs a gf, and that YOU are the solution to HIS problem, rather than the other way around?

Hot, loaded and single... hmmm...

Nothing to lose, go for it!

I think your mom worries about you the way most mother's do. I wouldn't take offense. The older generation are more into marriage than ours is so it's probably her background speaking more than any personal opinion about your love life.

I admire your tenacity. i don't think you should go out with him. He probably likes older women anyway. Give him my email address instead. :p

Haw! You're probably right anyway. What my mom thinks a successful handsome mature 26-year-old wants with a college girl who swears irreverently and dresses childishly and listens to loud screaming music in the car is beyond me.

My mom, grandmother, aunts (basically any female relative older than I am) always ask me if I have a boyfriend. My answer is always "no" and then I feel embarrassed and pathetic. Some of my relatives will attempt to make me feel better by saying stuff like, "Oh that's fine, you don't need a boyfriend right now. You should just concentrate on school ( ... )
