whoo, i just had tons o fun today!!!

twas the day of the astrophysics phest, where my brother's band, of exile, was to play. since this was uber-fun and cool, i suggest you suck it. :)

i stayed for in the know, where i ended up (like always) getting distracted and talking to corey and andrew. silly fellows, they are. nick arnold mitchell, evidently, bit me again in the shoulder and it fucking hurts.

after itk [sometime around 4:20 on 4/20, ha!], tori and i went over to the metals fab room where of exile was warming up. and by 'of exile', i mean andre. because ty was nowhere to be found, brian didn't know they were playing, jerry was who-knows-where, and blaze (blade?) was just sitting there. they proceeded to warm up for like 45 minutes. andre played radiohead and darkness riffs, which was pretty rad.

what sucked is i forgot my camera, so all the cool ass shit i saw i couldn't take pictures of! nisi will inevitably have pictures up, once i show her how to do that.

i talked to amber and tori, and my mom came and we hung out with her. amber and amber (h and s) also came, and i talked to them for a while, along with lots o people i know. being social! pretty much everything tori, if not, and i did was pretty lesbianic. we're like boytouchers, except opposite. i fed them cheeseballs and cookies. we licked each others' hot dogs. fun.

the band started playing, and we lost nisi to music (ever so enthralled by the band, she is). i was just standing around staring at the hottness (punk boys at our school = only good for looking at). jason downing = hot. he's like damian kulash + paul reubens. peewee paul reubens. he had these sunglasses on...rowr! i forced nisi to take a pic. tori, amber h and s, and i went over to where james was sitting all far away and antisocially and found this really gross puke looking stuff. we poured pop in it. chemistry in action! nisi took a pic of that, too.

all this time dustin, matt burnside, and someone else (all rather large people) were dancing in the weirdest, greatest way possible. when nisi gets her pics up, you will see.

anyway, she went over to go pick on austin, and came back and asked me if i'd like to go with them to go throw things at something. i of course agreed; who says no to throwing things at things?! so i crammed in the back seat of miles hartman's car with tori and whats-his-face and austin, and we all headed to mt. pleasant. donny was also in the front.

the idea was to throw one can of diet coke off the mountain. we climbed it, which was fucking retarded (but now i feel better about eating a ton of ice cream and hot dogs and cookies and shit...not that i really felt bad to begin with). finally, all moist and muggy, we reached the top. it's a pretty awesome view. lancaster sits in a big ass valley and you can see into the horizon for miles when you're at the top of the mountain. i suggest anyone in the lancaster area should do it sometime. it's quite soothing.

we spent a few hours on the mountain. that time consisted only of hearing retarded racist jokes from the boys and watching them throw things at each other. ahh, boys. but besides being horribly conservative bigots, they're pretty cool people. donny actually knew who ben kweller was (i was wearing my bk shirt), even if all he knew was "that one song about 'the rules' ". (the rules? i said, and he didn't realize that was the actual title.) and he knew about emo (and didn't like it! huzzah!) and weezer and floyd. his band is playing at the talent show, and they're doing a queens of the stone age cover. butchering it, but at least they like good music to begin with. their drummer is amazing good, but that's got little to do with anything.

they frequently tried to depants tori, there was lots of talk about porn, and alot of humping. trees, each other, the air, anything. donny mooned us all [and his ass isn't bad], everyone lifted their shirts lots of times. i saw more half naked boy in person all at once than in my life accumulated. in person, mind you. they're pretty cute boys, so untoned and pale and skinny. twas quite fun indeed. they were all showing off for tori, it was amusing.

after we got off the mountain, we hung out in the park, mainly playing on the merry go round thing. it's this big metal thing with boards on the bottom, and you spin it yourself, then you jump on and ride around really fast in circles. i'm feeling the inertia just thinking about it. it was super fun. we gawked at the hippy hackey sack players in the parking lot [one of them was cute!] who were listening to floyd. it was adorable, silly hippies!

then tori said goodbye and opted to stay in the park before walking 2 feet to her house (not literally 2 feet). the boys and i went back to the astrophysics phest to get more hot dogs. everyone was sitting around in their cars talking and listening to social distortion. yes, a school function. all the coveted beef franks were gone, but i did get a free pepsi.

left were jen and adam, to whom i said hi and gave a vague description of my mountaintop revelry. adam found the mooning part particularly funny. also talked about our wonderful public schooling (as a man in a wheeled trash can flew by). ahh, school-sponsored metal shows.

then some random guy walked up to me and asked me who ben kweller was. i said "a guy who plays guitar...and sings...at the same time!" he said that it was a very hard thing to do, and that bk must be very talented, to which i concurred. he asked me what kind of music it was, and all i could come up with was "rock" and "sometimes sort of ballady stuff". horrible description. i should've said something about how it's sometimes alt-country-ish and sometimes 60's pop-ish and sometimes violent femmes-ish, but words escape me, which i told him. he was a very amicable fellow.

the reason why i even brought that up is that i don't think that's ever happened to me before. where someone has come up to me and asked me about my shirt in an earnest manner (and not like a "who is ben kweller, anyway?", snide fashion). in fact, very rarely do people randomly strike up conversations with me at all, i'm usually loudly talking about something and they join in a previously established conversation, then i scare them away. this guy didn't seem to be frightened at all...and he approached me. wow, i sound really lame. still, i get excited about shit like this. people who care about music and are nice! so hard to come by in these parts. i hope i talk to him again sometime. i enjoy amicable people. who the fuck was he?!

and now i'm home. i'm really glad i took advantage of spring in climbing up the mountain. god, it was so wonderful up there. perfectly breezy, not too cold, not too hot. but back to my old computer nerd ways, i guess.

adware still not gone, after using a2, spybot, adaware, and mcafee multiple times. i think i know which ad it is at least: purityscan. and i think it's infecting my lj client that i'm using right at this moment. cool, eh?

s'pose i ought to do something productive right now. gilmore girls in a few, as well. lates!

ps. i realize you lj friends don't know any of the people i'm talking about, but at least get the fact that i knew and hung out with that many people! i feel all popular or something...

edit: fuck yes! i just found out that cd101 is now playing franz in regular rotation!!! seriously, they have the best playlist evar! check it the fuck out! and do keep in mind that the shite they play makes the good stuff possible.
