I feel like my heart just froze over, there are tears in my eyes, and my hands are shaking. I miss Mom and Dad. This is the first time I won't be able to see either of them. Mom said, "When your children are little they step on your toes; when they are older they step on your heart" - I hope I never did that to her or Dad, but I'm sure I must

I'll bet your Mom & Dad loved you very much, or you'd not miss them so.

I think so. They were wonderful parents, and loved all of us a lot. I came first, so I was the only one to have them to myself, I guess, until my youngest sister anyway. I always tell them I was the luckiest - I got to love them the longest. I also got to know a lot about my younger brothers and sisters, from the time they were born, as they were developing and growing up - though they didn't remember me as well as I remember them, since I was working at family businesses from the time I was 11, then at college and such.
