I was glad for the cloak, for the air in the cave was chilly. Our footfalls sounded hollow and dense against the ground. I wore no shoes, and the rock beneath my feet felt rough, like sand frozen into stillness. I could hear my breathing and the breathing of my companions as we walked. The light finally gave out as we drew near to a large tunnel
