The Salow Family Christmas last night, an annual obscene orgy of gifts and food. A few years back I tried to interest them in providing gifts and feasts for poor families in the area rather than each and every person in the family buying gifts for everybody else. Come from a family of adventurous eaters, myself. We moved around a lot, all over the country, and everywhere we've been we've tried, and learned to make, the local specialties. Put it on a plate and if it stays put on its own, we'll give it a go. Heck, my older brother doesn't even insist on that! :-)

Sazon is a Mexican seasoning. Basically it's achiote. Look in your Latin cuisine aisle for it, and for the tomato and chicken bouillon. Here's the recipe ( ... )

Yep, that one's going to get made for a family feast sometime soon. Sounds incredible!

You could also roll it into lumpia wrappers with the onion/cilantro and deepfry those . . . a friend of mine in SoCal used to make carne asada lumpia, and let me tell you, they disappeared faster than Atomic Buffalo Turds. Good stuff.
