Asylum Rant

Okay, so just a few things about Asylum. When I came back home last night I went online to find out what I had missed of the Misha panel since I had to leave a little early because of my flight. And seriously?

WTF???

Who the hell is putting all these rumors and false stories up??? Sometimes I honestly believe people just hear what they want to hear, and not what is actually being said. And no offense to anyone whose English isn't all that great, but most of the time it seems to be people who don't really have a grasp on the language, misunderstand things and then post them and start the most stupid discussions. Half of what I read last night never happened the way it was described. There's some stuff I can't really comment on, cause I wasn't there for e.g. the coffee lounges, but I WAS there for all the panels. Up front. Listening. Actually understanding what was being said. And I can't corroborate half of the "controversial" stories I read yesterday.

As for the overall thing, yes, it was badly organized, yes, a lot of things could have gone a lot smoother, yes, it was demanding for the guests in some instances, but everybody makes it sound like Creation's the holy grail of cons, and it's not. And the guys got a lot of money for being there. I'm pretty sure shooting an 18-hour day is a lot more demanding than signing your name and smiling for the cameras. If I read one more post about how the guys looked sooooo tired and stressed and bla - which are usually put up by people who weren't even there - I'm gonna go strangle someone. Yes, compared to the U.S. cons, they really had a tight schedule. And yes, WMC probably shouldn't have tried to accommodate all fans and just should've left it at the amount of photo ops and autographs they had initially planned to sell. But what I find funny is that a lot of the people who are complaining now about how the organizers are all out for the money and all were the ones who kept complaining and whining about how they didn't get photo ops and how unfair that was until more ops were put up for sale in the first place. Plus, I find it pretty ridiculous to accuse WMC of trying to make as much money as possible considering that Creation charges more for a gold ticket than I paid for the complete weekend including my flight, hotel, and photo sessions. And I had second row seats.

I'm also extremely tired of the girlfriend bashing. You know what guys? IT DOESN'T MATTER AT ALL WHAT WE THINK ABOUT THEM. And considering we're all grown-ups here, I actually find it pretty pathetic how some people are resorting to badmouthing the girls just because they're involved with the guys. Maybe they are bitches, maybe they're not - either way, IT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS for Christ's sake, so can we just leave them be???

So, stop harshing my squee, people. Seriously. I guess we can all agree it could've gone a lot smoother (I've used a few choice words this weekend as well and wasn't very impressed with Jensen and Jared on Friday to be honest), but it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. For the attendees or the guests. And it was fun. I can't remember when I last laughed as much as I did in the past few days. The guests were all very sweet, and charming and funny and adorable and personally, I enjoyed myself immensely despite all the mishaps. Maybe people should stop taking apart every little comment that's made and every picture that's posted and just enjoy.
