Well, Steph was having dreams of him - it didn't really explain much more. Drew originally was killed from falling off a horse. I think.

drew died when he fell off a hourse back at his parents ranch a few years ago. he left libby and their son ben behind. libby then went on to get back togethr with darren (her high shcool love interest) about 2 years later.
i hope that helps, but i still have no idea what happened to steph :S
