Art improvement meme: part 1

Jun 03, 2013 19:20

Manna posted an art improvement meme and it was so glorious that I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I'm planning to split this into 3-4 parts, though it will probably take me a few days to post each part because I'm still photographing/scanning some of my old artwork.

Slow connections beware. There are a lot of images under the cut.

Art from 1999 - 2002, age 10-13 )

meme, i was a dumb kid, pokemon, this post is too long, art

Oh man, this reminds me of my childhood as well! I used to draw A LOT on MS paint when I was 9 to 12 I believe, and I used to draw mostly Pokemon and Hamtaro characters on it X'D

Hamtaro! There was a year or two when I was really into that show.

Not gonna lie, I still try to draw on MS Paint from time to time... though I usually give up about 15 or 20 minutes into it because it's so time-consuming and frustrating compared to every other art program.

Same here, my fav was always Dexter, the one with glasses X'D

I actually use it still as well! Not to draw on it, but more about pasting stuff and that kind of things :)

So where does one find this meme at?

I remember my MS Paint days, LOL!! That was when I was heavily into Neopets. I can't believe I still have some of it saved on my computer, seeing as the laptop I am using now is not where the images were originally created!

Here is a little sample of my horrid MS Paint art from 2001:

I'm not sure you "find" the meme anywhere. It's just "post your art from your earliest to your latest".

I can't believe my MS Paint files are on my computer either. I've gone through at least 4 computers since my MS Paint days.

Wow, your MS Paint drawings look much better than mine. And I hear you about the compression. I didn't realize that .jpg's degraded in quality at the time, so a lot of my old pictures are grainy.

Alright, I might just have to do that then...;)

Some of my drawings were on my Mom's old computer. So for some of my MS Paint files, this is the 3rd computer they have been on. Hopefully, it won't be the last. I actually bought a external hard drive so I can back everything up properly!

Thanks, I use to spend a lot of hours using MS Paint. As they say, "Practice makes perfect." Maybe, I'll post more in my journal sometime?! :3

These are seriously the best!! such an imagination can be seen from the pictures, I'm impressed. Mine always used to be only profile shots on white background. I could never think of something genius like the rainbow trees. And I love how you used different poses/scenarios as well 8D
PS: dat Delibird <3

Ironically, I fail at backgrounds and interesting poses now that I'm older.

I don't know why, but the second I saw the Voltorb, I couldn't stop laughing. I know it's supposed to be using an electric attack, but it looks so surprised, it's more like "Voltorb .5 seconds before completion of an accidental Self-Destruct" XD

These are great in their own way! I like seeing old art (and sharing mine among friends) because even in its badness, it represents progress and is often hilarious.

That's EXACTLY what it's supposed to be, actually. Not gonna lie, Voltorb is my favorite too.
