Sorry that I've been so quiet on LJ lately and haven't been commenting. Between work and the crazy weather and me not feeling well, I haven't found the time/motivation to do much on LJ. Unfortunately, I cannot help, buuut I understand your frustration. I recently tried listing something on ebay recently, and was very unhappy about the new interface. I tried switching to the advanced tool, and it gave me an error stating that my listing could not be found! What the heck, I was in the middle of making the freaking listing! Fortunately it was saved on the saved listings page and I didn't have to start over. Still, I was kind of put off and have yet to finish my listing.

I hope you can find a solution to your problem!

I found a solution for new listings. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for anything already listed (or anything you're relisting where the template is older than 90 days).

If you can get to the advanced tool, it should have at least some of your previous preferences saved. I managed to get to the advanced tool by starting a new listing from scratch and switching over to the old template before I did anything else. When I do a "sell similar" to those auctions, it will auto-default to the advanced tool.

Sometimes I want to send an angry email to ebay. Listing a single auction should not take 50 minutes, especially for those of us who have been using ebay for years.

seems like ebay just keeps getting worse and worse. it's almost like they don't want people's money. e_e

I managed to fix most of the issues with ebay, but it was so annoying. I was getting close to the "send an angry email to ebay and never use their website again" phase by the time I figured out the solution.

On the bright side, at least my ebay items are getting bids. I would flip all the tables if I spent hours listing stuff on ebay only to have it not sell.

No worries about being quiet on the LJ front. Life and stuff gets busy. ^^
