I remember being in the garden with the stranger. I felt him embrace me and making me feel special. Then, I realized that dreams come true. I finally found him and we love each other. I never knew I would ever feel like this with someone, but every thought that comes up transforms into romantic moments with him. It’s amazing how love feels.
The only problem is when I wake up from my fantasy. I touch my lips and rub my neck. My eyes widen as my finger tips gently touch my bite marks. Everything was real.
A smile creeps upon my face as the door opens. My father walks in with an upset expression. As my smile fades away, he sits on the edge of my bed, sending me his disappointment vibes.
“Shinya,” he begins with a stern tone.
I sit up and look at him, knowing what he’s about to lecture about.
“Why did you leave her?” he asks, staring at me.
I swallow my fear and truthfully reply, “I did it for love.”
“Love?” he scoffs, “You left your fiancé for love?”
I slowly nod, trying to lose eye contact with him.
“Shinya, Sylvia loves you. No one else. You’re marrying her in 3 days. I know you love her.”
“No, I don’t. I despise her and her presences drives me crazy.”
“You’re in denial. I know you love her, that’s why you’re marrying her.”
“Please, father! I do not want to marry her. I want to be with Asagi-san. I want to be happy with him.”
“Him? You love a man?!? I will not allow that especially because he is below us.”
“I don’t care what you think anymore. I’m in love with him and he loves me too.”
“Baka! You’re marrying Sylvia no matter what. Our family approves of her and she can make you happy.”
“B.S.! I’m never with her. She’s too clingy and immature. Asagi is a real man. He cares about me. He makes me feel like I’m something because he protects me. He treats me well and he is an acceptable person. Why can’t you see that?!?”
“Because I care about your future. How will we be able to pass down the Terachi name if you’re with another man?”
“We can adopt, father. Imagine all those orphans who need homes.”
“It’s not the same! It has to be our blood line.”
“Then ask Akira to have children! Let me be happy with Asagi-san.”
“I refuse to let this happen,” he says, standing up, then looking down on me, “I want you to think about Sylvia and your wedding. You have to give her a chance.”
I lay back down, sighing deeply. “Whatever.”
He walks out my room, looking down at the ground.

Three days later, Kaoru came into my room as I begin buttoning my tux jacket.
“Are you ready, Shin-chan?” Kaoru asks with a smile.
“What do you think, Kao?” I reply, groaning.
He steps in front of me and fixes my tux and then my bow. “Perfect,” he says, playing with my hair a little.
“Do I really have to do this?” I complain.
“No. You have free will, but apparently this is what your father wants.”
“There has to be a law against something like this.”
“Well, there isn’t. I wish I could help you, but your father scares me.”
I look down, sighing. I begin thinking of how to escape. I know I want to make my father happy, but not like this. Doesn’t he care about my happiness at all? Sometimes I despise him for things like this, but then I ended up hating myself for despising my own father. Then again, I love him, just not his ways of living.
Kaoru leaves the room with a smile. I continue thinking of how things will be if I did go through with this wedding. It’s not like I’ve never imagined marrying a beautiful woman, I just never expected it to be a woman like Sylvia.
My assistant knocks on the door and informs that the wedding is about to start. I nod and walk out, heading toward the front of the church and standing next to the priest.
As the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and a couple children walk down the aisle, the organist begins the “Wedding March”. I bite my lip; look down the red carpet as Sylvia walks toward me in a fancy, lace white dress. I can see her smiling vaguely through the veil.
She finally makes it next to me and the priest begins the usual wedding routine. Then, he came to the big question.
Sylvia accepts her vows to love me and to never separate and then he turns to me. I hesitate to answer and glance over at my father, then softly respond with, “I do.”
“If anyone rejects to these two loving people to be joined, speak now or forever hold your peace,” the priest says.
The church stays silent as I try to hold back from crying.
“By the powers invested in me, I now pronounce-“ he begins again.
“Matta!” a deep voice interrupts from the back of the sanctuary.
Sniffling a little, I hear the familiar voice and the sound of a couple women gasping in the crowd. I slowly look back to see if this was really true.
The man walks toward the altar and turns me around to look at me eye to eye.
“Ashiteru…” he says softly, making me smile.
A tear appears, sliding down my face as I quickly press my lips on him. He wraps his arms around me while deepening our kiss.
The crowd continues to watch in amazement as Sylvia cries, running off to her dressing room with her mother and older sister following behind her.
I didn’t care anymore as I put my arms around his neck, searching for my true love’s tongue. Tears continue to fall down my face as he pulls me closer.
“This is an outrage. I command you to stop this, Shinya!” my father jumps up angrily.
I pull away slowly, looking down and wiping the tears from eyes. My father smirks as Asagi encourages, “You don’t have to do this, Shinya-san.”
I nod and respond, “I have to.”
I bend down on one knee, pull out the ring I was going to give Sylvia and begin to ask, “Asagi-san…will you marry me?”
Looking up at him with pleading eyes, he lifts my chin up, and softly kisses my lips. I stand up and put the ring on his finger holding his hand still. He lifts them up and kisses my hand, then leads me out the sanctuary as my father calls my name.
We make it outside; Asagi opens the door, letting me sit beside him as he enters the other side. He smiles at me, gives me a kiss, and drives off, never looking back.
