The priest’s final words slowly fade into the dreary scene of rain and colorless sky. He closes his bible and concludes the ceremony with a monotone “amen”. The spectators approach the casket and each take a pink or white rose from atop the casket, then head off to their vehicles.
The tall, slender man watches the roses taint over to a wilted black and the dying petals weakly detach from its structure to the wet grass. He looks up at the casket between dripping dark strands of hair and approach the platform. He smirks to himself as his fingertips admire the fine wood finish, before opening it.
He tilts his head slightly and examines the face of the man who resembles him, then feels along the trim of the suit and slips his fingers in a pocket. He pulls out a single match, lights it against the casket’s surface, and carelessly tosses the match in the coffin. With a satisfied smirk, he closes it up and walks away.
“Say ‘goodbye’…” he whispers.
“A tragedy occurred two months ago and I was fortunate to make it out alive with the love of my life and broken arm,” the musician says, glancing over at the brunette beside him. He blinks a bit at the flashing lights of the media and resumes his speech, “I’m feeling a lot better now, but I have agreed to go through a couple more therapy sessions to make sure my enemy doesn’t come back again.”
A woman raises her hand, stands up, and asks, “So, what do you think about the public labeling you as mentally insane?”
He leans into the microphone and answers with a smile, “I’ve always been insane and I think my fans already knew that and have accepted it.”
“But aren’t you afraid of losing sells and your fans due to your suicide attempt?” the man asks.
“Not at all. I believe that my fans will always love me for who I am and will continue to support me through the hard times and the very good ones. One day, I’ll put my story out to the public, so look out for my book,” he says with a little laugh, then steps away from the podium and walks off the stage with the older man. He ignores the echoes of the paparazzi demanding more answers and the flash of cameras going off behind them.
He holds Toshiya’s hand and leads him toward the limo outside. He opens the door for him and sits next to him in the back. He kisses him softly and smiles as the vehicle moves. “I’m so happy that we finally get to take that vacation you always wanted,” he says, putting his arm around Toshiya’s shoulders.
“I’m just happy you’re still alive,” he grins.
“Of course, I’ll never leave you, Totchi.”
Toshiya kisses his cheek sweetly and says, “Now we need to work on getting your arm out that sling, so you can go back to playing guitar.”
Miyavi laughs and nods. “It’s already feeling better having you around.”
