Lifting myself from the floor, I walk over to the window to see what is going on outside. I see Toshiya and Kaoru sitting against a car. Kaoru puts his arm around Totchi and he squeezes him. It kinda looks like he kissed him too. I move away and walk to the bathroom.
I turn the light on and examine myself in the mirror. Rubbing my neck, I can still feel his tight grip. I guess I shouldn’t have betrayed Totchi like that, but a guy like Miyavi should be treated better.
I turn the light off and walk into the living room at Kaoru heads to the front door.
“Is everything alright?” I ask opening the door for him.
“Yeah, I think things are gonna be different from now on,” he answers smiling.
“So, what’s going on with you and Totchi?”
“I’m not sure, but I know he wants to change.”
I sit on the couch and say, “That’s good. So, what are you going to do now?”
“I think I’ll take advantage of being single for a while,” he replies smiling as he joins me on the comfy sofa, “I must know something.”
“What?”
“What happened with you and Miyavi? I was wondering where you were the whole time.”
“Kaoru, you know me. I never like to kiss and tell,” I respond laughing a little.
He nods his head and says, “Ok. Fair enough.”
Looking down on the coffee table, I pick up my lighter and begin playing with it.
The room is quiet and all you can hear is the clicking of my lighter.
What should I do? I hope Toshiya’s gone; I need to talk to Miyavi.
I slip my shoes on and ask, “I think I’m gonna go out. You wanna come?”
“Can I stay here? I’ll lock up when I leave,” he responds.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah. Go ahead. I’ll see you Saturday.”
I simply nod my head as I grab the keys and exit through the front door.
I guess I pulled that off very well, I don’t want him to be suspicious of me going to Mivi’s. I have to know if he’s okay.
As I drive to his house, I think about everything I want to say to him. I think about how he’s going to react to anything I say or do. I just hope Totchi isn’t there. Maybe I should call first. But what if he doesn’t want to see me.
I take a deep breath and take my chances. Picking up my cell, I dial his number and wait for him to answer.
“Hello?” he answers.
“Is this Miyavi?” ‘Of course it is, baka! Why’d you even ask?’
“This is him.”
“Um…this is Die. I was wondering if you are busy right now.”
“Nope. Just watching anime. Why? What’s going on?”
“Oh, well I wasn’t sure if you wanted any company. Is it alright if I stop by for a visit?”
“Sure. It’s getting kinda quiet anyway.”
“Ok. See you soon,” I end, hanging up the phone.
I continue to drive with a huge smile. It kinda sounded like he wants me to come over. This is my opportunity to make Miyavi happy. I can change his life…well maybe not, but I can probably get rid of all the painful memories of his relationship with Totchi.
I park in the driveway and check myself out in the mirror. Moving a few strands of hair here and there, I finally step out the vehicle and walk to his door. Before I knock, the door opens.
“Die!” Miyavi greets giving me a huge hug, “I’m glad you could come over. I ordered some pizza, so you’re welcome to stay. Anyway, come in.”
I walk in and look around his house. “Wow! You have a nice place, Meevs.”
“Thanks,” he replies smiling as we head to the couch.
“So, what’s up?” he asks getting comfortable.
“Oh, nothing really. Just trying to figure out a few things,” I answer looking down nervously, “So, how are things with you and Toshiya?”
“Things are alright. It took him a while to accept the break up. Didn’t you talk to him?” he asks.
“Yes…unfortunately. But, Miyavi, did your break up have anything to do with what I said to you?”
“Somewhat. It helped me a lot. I actually thought about it before. Thank you,” he says giving me a big hug.
Someone knocks on the door and Miyavi let’s go to answer it. As he receives the box of pizza, I look down at the couch’s soft material and fiddle with my fingers.
He sits the box down on the coffee table and asks, “What do you want to drink?”
“Coke, please.”
He leaves for a little bit and comes back handing me a can. He opens the box and begins eating the contents.
“You know you can have some,” he says with a mouth full of pizza.
I hesitantly pick up a slice and begin eating.
“What’s wrong, Die? You seem a little nervous or something.”
“I guess I am. I’m having mixed emotions. I’m happy, but I feel slightly guilty.”
“Don’t be. Everyone makes mistakes and you can’t control how you feel.”
He wipes his mouth and takes a sip of orange soda as I say, “I guess so. I just didn’t want you to -“
Miyavi cuts me off by pulling me in and giving me a long kiss. He feels through my hair and touches my face as he pulls away.
“Don’t worry about it, Die. Everything will be better now,” he comforts.
“What was that for?”
“Because I think you’re cute and I’m glad I have a friend like you that cares about me so much.”
I respond with a huge smile and lean in for another kiss, but he stops me with one finger on my lips. I pull back hanging my head down and apologize. He smiles and grabs another slice. I grab another slice as well and we talk for a few hours.
Looking over at his clock, I realize how late it is and say, “Thank you for everything. I had a lot of fun.”
“Me too. Your visit definitely made my day better,” he replies, “We should do this again some time.”
I nod and hug Miyavi goodbye.
Today is Saturday; two days after Toshiya choked me. Two days after I visited Miyavi. Two days after I had the feeling everything is turning out for the better.
Driving to the studio, I felt unsure if I will have another encounter with Miyavi. I’m worried I might not see him again because of Toshiya, but it didn’t seem like the break up affected him. I just don’t want to lose him.
I take a deep breath, open the door, and walk down the studio’s lonely hallway. Close to the recording door, Kaoru walks out and happily greets, “Hey, Die!”
“Hey,” I try to say as cheerful as I could.
“I’ve been thinking about something for a while,” he says nervously scratching his head.
“What is it, Kao?” I ask a little confused.
“Since we have next week off, I was wondering,” he begins pulling a white envelope from his back pocket, “if you want to join me on a seven day cruise.”
“Um…sure. Sounds like a fun week,” I agree with an uneasy smile.
“Great! It’s gonna be worth your while!”
He grabs me and squeezes me hard. Quickly giving me a kiss, he walks back in the room.
Suddenly, I hear quick footsteps to my left, but no one is there. I walk over and peel around a few corners to see who it is, but no luck.
“Die, we need you to play something,” Kaoru says running toward me, then grabbing my hand.
As we walk back to the recording door hand and hand, I look back and hope that I discover the mystery viewer. I wonder if it was Miyavi. I hope he didn’t see Kaoru kiss me.
I look down at my hand and Kaoru’s and notice that we’re still joined together.
What’s happening? Does Kaoru like me or something?
“Kaoru, are you okay?” I ask a little worried.
“I’m fine. Why do you ask?” he answers smiling.
“You’ve been acting strange ever since the club incident.”
We stop, he turns us around, and says, “Because I finally accepted the truth.”
