Author's Notes: Don't you just love my unusual pairings <3
I sit there on the opposite side of the classroom, watching the gothic bassist scribble on his worksheet. Sighing to myself, I think about what it would be like to date him. Not many people would think innocent little Hiro-pon would go for a smart, rebellious Zero-kun. There’s just something about him I like, but it’ll probably never happen between us.
“Hiro-kun…” someone whispers next to me.
I look at Tora. “Hm?”
“What did you get for number 4?” he asks.
“750,” I answer, going back to my worksheet. I write down the last answer and look up at the clock. Thirty minutes left. I lay my head down on the desk, sighing softly to myself. Turning my head to the other side, I look through the strands of brown hair, watching him push his braids back and look over at Karyu’s paper occasionally.
Maybe I should talk to him…maybe I should change who I am to get his attention. I sigh again, slowly realizing that I no chance with him.
The bell rings, releasing us to go to our next class. I quickly gather my things and immediately begin exiting the room, until I bump into someone who stops in the doorway. I drop my books and my notebook and I bend down to pick them up, softly saying, “Gomen…”
He bends down and reaches for a manga on the floor. “Is this yours?” he asks.
Nervously looking up, I take the book and answer quietly, “Hai...”
We stand up as he comments, “Great series…”
I nod, pushing my hair back. “Sorry for running into you. I should get going.”
Blushing, I leave him, quickly walking to my next class. That was so embarrassing, but he was so nice to me.
I walk into my science class and my sensei stops me immediately.
“Hiroto-san, you’ve been transferred to chemistry class on the second floor.
I blink a bit and nod, leaving the sensei to the second floor. The tardy bell rings as I wonder, trying to find my new classroom. Looking around, I finally find my room. I turn the door knob and nervously step in. The sensei stops his casual conversation with his class as I slowly walk in, scanning over the classroom. My eyes widen a bit as I notice Zero sitting in the back middle row.
“Ah~ You must be Hiroto-san,” the sensei greets, walking over to me.
“H-hai…” I answer, focusing on the person talking to me.
“Welcome to the class! We’re going to be doing a lab today, so you can work with Zero-san.”
I blush lightly as I go over to the lab table Zero’s walking over to. The students mumble to themselves while going to the lab area.
Zero pulls out his stool and sits down, picking up a test tube and examining it. I sit next to him, putting my backpack under the table, and then I take out my pencil ready to work.
“So, you’re gonna be my lab partner, ne?” he says, sitting the test tube back on the rack.
“I…guess so,” I respond shyly, biting my lip.
The sensei walks by each lab table, passing out a sheet of paper. “You have until the end of class to turn this in. Good luck!”
Zero sits up and begins moving the glassware in the center and starts putting in a couple substances.
“So, what are we suppose to do?” I ask curiously, watching Zero measure the water.
“We’re supposed to show a chemical reaction, then we have to do the formula on the paper,” he explains, focusing on getting the exact measurements.
“Oh, like this?” I ask again, sliding the paper over to him and showing him the formula I scribbled down.
He looks down at the paper, nodding in approval, then he looks over at me. “How’d you figure that out?”
Laughing softly, I begin to explain the scientifical method I used on the paper. Occasionally looking at the other, he continues nodding.
“…And then you put a 2 here and now it’s balanced,” I finish.
“Hmm…I think I understand it,” he replies, before looking at the liquid. “I guess I’ll finish this part and you can do the last problem.”
I smile a little and look down at my paper, writing in the answer. The bell rings and I jump a bit from the loudness.
“I’ll clean up and you go ahead to class,” he suggests, pouring out the substances into the sink.
“What about our paper?”
“Just turn it in. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
I nod, pick up my stuff, and begin leaving the classroom. Sighing contently, I think of how great it felt to be around him. I can’t believe we’re lab partners.
