process is often the point. it's never the end that changes us. no one can give us answers to our greatest questions that will change the way we view the world. sometimes we need things beat into us. suffering sometimes brings answers. it's one of the curses of being human ( Read more... )

I agreed with you until Dubya. I don't think I was old enough to vote then..or maybe I was. I understand about complicity. I dunno, I would fight the man harder but I don't want to be deported. Weak excuse. Weaker because it's true.

But, I think there's a problem with your statement about "we all deserved" -- doesn't middle america love george bush? kinda like a similar response to something John wrote much earlier, but people who have [relative]privelege pushed Bush into office and are happier for it. It's "the rest of us" who are fucked as usual.

But maybe that's too black and white.

My roommate asked me today if 9/11 changed me. I said it made me more paranoid -- of the U.S. government and kookoos coming out of the wood work.

the really annoying cliches become really annoying cliches by being- among other things- true.

and what's considered hopelessly prosaic now was hailed as genius the first time it was uttered.

so, you're totally right(forgive me, but i have to...), life is a journey, not a destination. *snicker snicker*
