Last weekend was my first official performance with F5 - The Charming Assholes. They are a good cast but I was home sick for The Pink Invaders. There were a lot of people trying new parts and they needed a Riff. I volunteered, despite what I kept telling PI I do have a full Riff costume (no space suit, yet). The move to TN is finally over, it actually ended Tuesday night but it took me time to recover.

Last night my martial arts instructors and friends came to see me perform at Rocky. Before the show they all gathered together around the counter and my instructor awarded me my 2nd Degree Black Belt. This made the rest of the show a complete blur. Before I move to Tennessee I will be testing for my 2nd degree Black Belt. I've also been having one of my instructors record me doing all my forms. I plan on putting them on CD rom and Video for my own practice when I get down to Tennessee. Several other people have asked if they can buy copies. Haven't posted anything in a while. I haven't been feeling good, but I got a bit of a boost this weekend.

I competed in the Cheeseheads National Karate Tournament. I took 5th with the Katana in contemporary weapons, 2nd with the Eku (oar) in traditional weapons, 3rd in traditional forms, and 2nd in Korean forms. I was being beat by the same ( Read more... )

My Sensei (karate teacher) just expanded our arsenal of weapons to include the nunchaku and the eku (oar). I haven't worked with the nunchaku in years and have never gotten a chance to work with the eku. Most Okinawan weapons were developed from farming implements, since Okinawa is an island it is logical that the fishermen would need to defend ( Read more... )
