Mega Man 10

Here comes Mega Man 10. I was getting worried there for a moment. It seems like it had been several months since Capcom announced anything beyond the lame Battle Network / Starforce crap. I'm sure Mega Man 9 cost peanuts to make and did well for itself, so a sequel seemed inevitable ( Read more... )

I have heard one of the bosses is going to be Sheep Man.

Is this true?

Being able to shoot sheep from a gun would be way too much awesome.

Well, if it helps give a visualization, his weapon is called Thunder Wool!

I think most Mega Man games as of late have contained a token gag boss, and 10 will be no different. Sheep Man follows in a long line of demented robots like Tornado Onion, Split Mushroom, Clown Man, Dust Man...

Split Mushroom sounds like the most delicious Mega Man boss ever.

I must admit, This has really killed the Megaman series for me. Retro does nothing for me. If i wanted to play an 8-bit megaman game. there were already 6 of them for me to play.

If the gameplay is so good, then why not spend the money for a small graphical boost. Some hand drawn sprites, something. Some gameplay updates. And so on.

If I'd criticize anything about Mega Man 9's visuals, it's that I wish they echoed the later NES games more than the early ones when it came to the backgrounds. There's too much solid color. Compare Jewel Man to Crystal Man or Concrete Man to Plant Man. Even Wood Man's forest was more visually interesting.

That's actually my criticism on the gameplay. I hear it takes from MM2 I think 3 had much better and refined mechanics. And 4 and up had some other things that worked very well.

I think for all intents and purposes, the gameplay evolution ended somewhere around 3 or 4. I think it's odd how they chose to incorporate Rush, but not sliding.

What I wouldn't welcome is the return of the charging Mega Buster. There's probably some kind of correlation between the advent of the charging cannon and the disuse of the boss weapons. The Mega Buster "broke" the game, in my opinion.

That and its screechy sireny whine is the worst 8-bit sound effect ever.
