Above the Fold

In traditional newspapers, there is a concept called "above the fold." Since many newspapers are shoved into dispensers, the top half of the front page is prominently featured. Today seems to be a slow arse news day. The leading story on the radio here for 3 hours straight was some guy who got his SUV stuck in cruise control.

I suspect the media are all hoping something really BIG is going to come out of the Copenhagen summit and didn't really have any backup plans ready. Journos sometimes have a weird idea of what is important.

To be fair, since CNN changed their format a few weeks ago, the typical news has been moved off to the left with the headlines below that image, with the living/entertainment section in the middle. I'd kind of expect that the positions would be switched.

Still, I think it has a decent layout because there are so many headlines out in the open. They aren't buried off in menus or sub-sections.
