I'd love to know the answer, though I think that being the "weirdest of the licensed games" is highly debatable. I mean, Yo, Noid!?

Fester's Quest would have been awesome if not for its shortcomings, though. And I think Midway would later base a Mortal Kombat character on Fester's box art.

Yo Noid was certainly weird, especially given the game it was based on. Yet on the other hand, the Noid was a recognizable, well-known character at that point. Uncle Fester, keep in mind this was before The Addams Family movie - I seriously doubt the average NES kid knew what The Addams Family was, let alone Uncle Fester. And it's not like the box art helped. Tor Johnson with pancake make-up and lipstick, oogling a spider? Sign me up! XD

Y'know, given the fact that Sunsoft didn't develop the games based on the movie - Ocean did instead - maybe what happened was Sunsoft had optioned the rights for an Addams Family game years before. Then, when they realized the movie was coming out and they didn't have the rights anymore, it was time to use them or lose them. So they spat out this hasty little game based on Blaster Master and called it a day.
