Last weekend, several dozen young adults from GNet, Grace's young adult ministry, went on a retreat to Ocean Isle beach at the southern point of NC. Some highlights and photos:
- riding down Friday afternoon and stopping at Smithfield's BBQ for dinner
- sleeping on the beach Friday night with Matt and Lucas, and waking up to a beautiful sunrise
- truly awesome messages from Delane Huyen on spiritual capacity (Fri) and Kingdom living (Sat)
- playing touch football and then ultimate frisbee on the beach
- building human pyramids and other structures in the waves
- seeing large fins move through the deeper waters (turned out to be dolphins)
- Philip catching a shark right out of the surf. Dude was 3-4 feet long, but dead and stinky. The guys took turns holding it. It was heavy!
- breaking my left small toe playing soccer on the beach. whoops.
- taking communion together on the beach on Sunday morning
- stopping at Sonic in Wilmington on the way home
- conversations on the ride home with Matt, Lucas, Daniel, and Justin about girls, entrepreneurship, God, and being men
Playing football. It was a large group!
Philip and his shark!
Lovely ladies (Rachel E., Courtney, Lindsay, from the bottom), and my roommate. (Sorry, Nick, I couldn't resist!) I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he was about to sneeze. :-)
Building the pyramid!
SUCCESS!
Tiffany (a former cheerleader) showed us how to launch people. We had some pretty out-of-control launches. :-)
Later, we had a couple of rousing games of musical chairs.
This is Prince, trying to make up for breaking my toe. :-) (Actually, I broke my own toe on his ankle.)
