carve your number on my wall

My mother loves the Beatles. (surprise?) So I grew up yowling I AM THE WALRUS... GOO GOO GAJOOB around the house and wondering what a pornographic priestess was, and having 'Your Mother Should Know' sung at me when she wanted me to do something.

George is her favorite. Possibly because she looks a lot like Patty Boyd. November 29th, 2001 was a sad ( Read more... )

That's really lovely. I also painted my mother something for mother's day--a picture of Marilyn Monroe because she's obsessed with her.

Ooh, I bet she was thrilled! Did you take a photo of it?

She was quite pleased, yes. I, on the other hand, being the one who made it and all -- well, not so much. But mostly I think it's okay.

You can see it here, as I don't want to spam your journal with my paintings, heh.

George was also my mother's favourite Beatle, and so she was somewhat aggrieved when, on completing the construction of the man's garden and grounds as part of Hilliers, my grandfather didn't think to get her an album signed by him or anything.

It's a cruel world that takes away Lennon and Harrison and leaves us with Macca.

I would have had a FIT at your grandfather in that position.

Indeed. In fact I just had to sit through a two-hour conversation in which my mother bitched (slightly drunkenly) about how Paul is a greedy, trophy-wife-having... thing.

My grandfather is an excellent horticulturist but a bit shite at remembering what one does with and for people. ;)

Hah, your mum. She sounds like my mother's friend Sue. Who I haven't seen in an age. Hrm.
